So glad we used a harpist through Sweet Harmony! It was so easy getting in touch with Tara anytime I had a question, she was really on top of everything. We had 2 songs that we really wanted to be played, and they were able to add them into the repertoire of song choices. It was such a beautiful addition to our wedding ceremony, and I would definitely recommend Sweet Harmony to anyone looking to hire a musician.
Ivan was a phenomenal addition to our holiday event on Friday, December 16th. He was extremely accommodating, and very professional. He is truly a talented man, and we can't wait to use him at our next non-profit event. I highly recommend Ivan to whoever is look for a solo pianist.
Al Louis Entertainment did an outstanding job at our wedding! Friends and family were having a blast on the dance floor all night long. I've known Alan personally for many years and he is an amazing performer and music professional!
Just for background information, I took lessons with Christine for about 4 years throughout high school with a focus in classical voice. I currently still study voice in college and I can honestly say I have the most helpful foundation I could have ever asked for for that. Christine instills a very strong vocal foundation both artistically and technically. She doesn't dumb anything down, but is absolutely understandable even for beginners. She is also incredibly knowledgeable as a musician, which is enormously helpful because with each new piece she adds to your repertoire, she also builds theoretical and artistic knowledge which helps you be able to perform other pieces later on. So I went into a lot of later repertoire having a solid understanding of the purpose and context of the music I was singing. Also, she never loses sight of the artistic aspects of singing, never letting pronunciation, oddly placed breaths, facial expressions, body language, misunderstanding of text, etc, slide. This seems kind of standard, but it's actually a really professional way of treating your students and made me personally, approach my music with as much professionalism as I had developed. I also found it extremely helpful that she explained why she did asked me to do certain things or ignore other things because, especially for beginners, classical training can seem like a black box and occasionally feels like it's taking you backwards. Having those explanations assuaged a lot of that fear. In my experience, I felt a lot of changes both explicitly and implicitly. I felt my voice grow, in range and strength, and my technical foundation and knowledge are both fairly solid. I stopped fidgeting and found a tremendously improved focus and composure while performing (a big problem for me). My Italian pronunciation is actually quite good now. My ear and internal tempo are both MUCH better. My theoretical knowledge is a lot more in depth than it was, (kind of a bonus because that's not her job). And my contextual knowledge of music is also at a much higher level than it would have been otherwise. Overall, Christine is a really talented teacher and musician who provides a lot of understandable but high level information, impeccable and PRECISE technique, and an artistic but academic approach to music and singing which lays a perfect philosophy in her students for continuing to grow as musicians.
Sean is an amazing musician. Furthermore, he teaches music theory in a proper way. He is a good music teacher.
I came to Marty to learn to sign while I played my guitar. I was more curious to see if I can be a recreational vocalist. Marty has been working with me to identify the root note in a chord and how to sign in key. It's amazing what a professional like Marty can pick up on and help me with.
Jonathan Segal is not only an extremely talented pianist but also a very skilled and insightful teacher of piano whether classical, jazz, or pop. He is a very nice guy with a great sense of humor that makes the piano lessons even more enjoyable -- not to mention more productive ! I highly recommend him. I am very glad to have found Jonathan as an instructor for studying piano.
Matthew is very professional musician. He took a lot of time to assist me preparing a very special song list for my husband's birthday dinner party. My family really enjoyed themselves especially because of his soulful sounds from playing the saxophone. He was mesmerizing. And, we're going to invite him back in the near future. Thanks, Matthew!
I've known Kevin for over ten years as a friend, a guitar teacher and a musician. He has an outstanding music knowledge base when it comes to theory, harmony, and composition. I studied with him for about three years and rate him as a teacher at the top of the list. He is very patient, and simpatico! He knows how to break things down so they can be easily grasped, and used. I am primarily interested in using the guitar as compositional instrument. Kevin has helped me find the most suitable arrangements and chord voicings for my work. Just recently I asked him to perform and record one of my songs, composed for my sweethearts birthday. I was very pleased with his interpretation of the piece, and my partner was enchanted. In conclusion, I highly recommend Kevin as a consomate professional, an excellent musician, and one great guy.
Drew is an exceptional musician and teacher. He is adapt at making abstract musical concepts concise and easy to understand. Drew also has a way of making challenging techniques feel less intimidating. Anyone who can make barre chords feel comfortable for a student is an excellent teacher!
Rebecca is an incredibly talented musician and educator. If you take your music seriously and want to enjoy while you learn, I highly recommend her! In the last 4 years I have learned a lot from her and have accomplished so much. Rebecca gave me the confidence I needed to take my talent to the next level. I look forward to staying with Rebecca from afar.
Aodhan is an amazing musician and a wonderful teacher. I've been taking lessons with him for about 6 months now and progressed more in that time than the last 3 years playing guitar. I like to study guitar from several angles at once - rhythm, technique, articulation, etc. and Aodhan is great at covering diverse topics and building upon previous lessons. Highly recommended!
I follow Nico's gigs as regularly as possible and have been doing so ever since her fledgling days as a singer song-writer. I love her original music as it has captivating melodies and heartfelt lyrics . She is quite tenacious in getting herself "out there" and in so doing, she leaves me breathless with all the things she does to promote her talents at any one time. I like to go with friends to hang out at her various gigs and be entertained by her while casually enjoying good food rather than a cover band with very loud music. Nico is a very talented singer and musician who plays different instruments equally well.
Before taking lessons from Jacob I wasn't sure if music was for me. After the first lesson I realized the potential of the ukulele and my potential as a musician. Super love the lessons and how he's helped me so far!
Everything you could ever want in a Professional Musician, Entertainer and Business man.
We had Yuto at our event on 1/16/2015. He was early and looked cool and well dressed and played such beautiful relaxing guitar music. He can play all the singers and standards but excels in being unique in the fact that he can play music from today on his guitar and you are aware of the songs but not really, it's subtle and that's what makes him so great! I particularly remember him playing Umbrella by Beyonce and it blew my mind.
The Verdict played at our welcome dinner in VT the night before our wedding for around 150 guests. They were amazing, and exceeded our already sky-high expectations. We and our guests had an awesome time, and we have The Verdict to thank for it! They are extremely talented musicians, and you can tell they love to play together; there is a soul to their music that is not typical of most bands. They really read the mood of the crowd and make sure everyone is having a good time – they played softer background music during cocktail hour and dinner, and then switched to dancing music after dinner that got everyone out on the dance floor. They are true entertainers – getting everyone at the event out of their seats dancing, laughing and celebrating. John, the band leader, was a pleasure to work with and was extremely flexible and responsive. He answered all our questions beforehand and worked with us to make sure the evening was exactly what we wanted. They sound amazing – their song list is extensive and varied, and they can play anything from roots reggae to pop with a great reggae vibe. We highly recommend the Verdict for any party or event – they were a pleasure to work with and will make sure everyone has an AWESOME time. -Emma & Jeff
I'm not a musician myself, but I was blown over by how easy Caroline was to work with and she is clearly a talented violinist--she helped make our wedding really beautiful. Some of my musician friends commented on how technically amazing her playing was, and I'd definitely defer to their thoughts on the music front :). I'd highly recommend Caroline to play at any event where music, professionalism, and quality really matters! Thanks, Caroline!
Jonathan teaches music, not technique, not songs. If you want to learn what it is to make music on the guitar, the bass or the harmonica, this is your guy. He brings excellent chops, excellent musicianship and real energy to the lesson. A musician's music teacher.
Carol Deminski was born to sing jazz. Her enthusiasm and professionalism are evident in every smoky contralto note. Add to this her generosity as both a practitioner and fan and you have the makings of the perfect MC. I had the pleasure and privilege of seeing Carol and her band perform at the DLV Lounge in Montclair and was blown away by Carol's musicianship (particularly loved her "Save the Bones for Henry Jones"), the considerable talents of her team of musicians and singers ("Night in Tunisia" by one veteran - WOW), and by her obvious joy in introducing her fellow performers ("infectious" is an overused word but particularly apt here). I am so looking forward to Carol's upcoming gigs!
Sho is so insanely talented, and was such a pleasure to have play at our wedding. He played solo for us, outside at the Central Park Conservatory Garden. His sound is just so beautiful and incredible. I was nervous about the acoustics since you can't have any amplified sound at the park, but Sho made it work just beautifully. We chose some classical violin solos for our ceremony from a long list he provided. He is so knowledgable of the pieces, and put me at such ease - he told me to take my time with the procession, if we were walking slow and the song was going to run over, he knew how to loop it and keep the music going until everyone was in place. He really knew how to make everything happen seamlessly. I highly recommend Sho! Just to met him was a pleasure. He's a very cool person.
