I recently used Margaret for the first time to edit two of my fictional short stories, and I highly recommend her services. She provided a critique that was thorough, frank, and kind. I am an amateur writer, and all of these factors were important to me. I was inspired, not discouraged, to continue working on these stories despite the daunting task of fixing structural issues. I did not have the dilemma of figuring out how to move forward as Margaret gave wonderful suggestions and advice on improvement. If you are shy and/or doubtful about having others view and critique your work (like I was), don’t be afraid to utilize Margaret to help you become a better writer! You won’t be disappointed.

The project was to find a professional resume writer who could create a resume and cover letter for a retiree with 25+ years of experience to apply for an administrative part-time position. I believe the comments below speak for themselves. First reaction, "WOW”. I really wasn't too optimistic that she would be able to take what I provided her and craft it in such a way to get so much information into 1 page. Of course my expectation was an improvement over what I provided, but she really took it to another level; I was amazed! To have someone who truly understands ... respects my feelings is absolutely priceless. I guess the best way I can say this, is the professionalism, sincerity and genuine commitment to my project is something we all as consumers wish we could experience with any company we do business with! Well done!" Thank you so much for a job “Well done”!

David Tabatsky is one of those rare individuals in modern day publishing who consistently shines in all three of the industry's most fundamental criteria: writing, editing and administrative skills. He would be an asset to any organization seeking someone whose love of words is matched only by his proficiency at putting them together.

This was not my first effort trying to use a content writer and I had a negative opinion of all content writers after my first experience. Malory from “The Missing Ink” quickly changed my opinion about the value and opportunity a skilled writer can offer to a company. Malory is an excellent content writer and capable of writing about almost anything. She is punctual and created a beautiful 2,700 words of awesome content and she made it in a day. Based upon her first sample writing effort, I was so impressed that i have already given her new projects to tackle and plan to utilize her unique skills into the foreseeable future.

I initially hired Doc Morissa to write a grant for my non-profit. She did such a great job, so I hired her to consult wit me on my business and how to improve it. That went to well that I hired her and her team to work on our social media, marketing and continuing to coach us. She is my saving light. My company would not be successful without all that she has provided. She is a Godsend. I know we will keep working together for years and shell keep helping us to grow. Thanks doc!

Max was a delight to work with. He tutored my son for 2 years when we were in Shanghai, China. Our son was in middle school at the time, (7th and 8th grade) and he needed help in getting organized and concentrating on his school work. I interviewed Max and selected him because of his warmth and engaging personality. He is also a writer and, at the time, our son was really into drama and creative writing so we thought that would inspire him. Max was so patient with our son who, at times, could be exasperating. Max would just roll with it and find a way to re-engage him. I don't think our son would have done as well as he did in school if it weren't for Max. Our whole family loved seeing Max, including our housekeeper who got a kick out of talking with Max in Mandarin. We highly recommend Max! He was sensitive to our son's moods and figured out how to motivate him, he was always punctual and very reliable.

Peter was a an excellent coach for my writing project. He brings a unique perspective based on years of experience as a business writer. Peter covered all the basics -- grammar, composition, etc. -- and then provided additional input from the point of view of the reader. I highly recommend him.

Most other resume writers were over my budget per job, and Thinkwork got it done in only a few hours. I think they were highly professional and detail oriented, he responded through text and listened to my goals. I was able to get a brushed up resume that showed my stregnths as a leader. Amazing job!

Sandra made sure she had a clear grasp of my needs and the purpose and audience of the writing project, which is a series of blog-style book reviews/summaries that provide college and career advice. She wrote in a style that fit seamlessly with my website and provided exactly what I had asked. She met her deadline and maintained clear, professional communication and follow-through for a fee that was much more reasonable than other quotes I had received (some of which had typos and others which were instant responses without details that never delivered on promise to provide more info) I am very happy and will be using her services on an ongoing basis.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

    • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
    • Strong writing skills.
    • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
    • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
    • Expertise in your target area.
    • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

    • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
    • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
    • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
    • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
