Jeremy has helped me extensively in both math and english. Not only has he helped me improve my grades but he has helped me get ahead of my classmates. Currently Jeremy is helping to prepare me for the ACT and I am prepping for an excellent score! Lastly, Jeremy makes himself available to help me at any time, including outside our sessions.

I have been working with Jim on preparing for the SAT and ACT tests since August 2013. For the first couple of months, Jim and I had our sessions on the Upper West Side. As I have to take the GW Bridge to get to Manhattan, I sometimes ran into traffic related problems that prevented me from getting to the city on time to meet him. Jim was very understanding of this, and suggested that we have our lessons on Skype instead. He is very flexible as far as scheduling, which is very convenient for a Junior with a hectic schedule. After taking a practice test, Jim and I went over the questions that I missed. I read the questions out loud because he did not have a copy of the test booklet. I actually wasn't surprised that he was able to tell me all of the correct answers because he has been teaching me all kinds of fool-proof strategies to find the right answer. Jim has helped me raise my composite ACT score by 7 points. Additionally, he has been helping me tremendously throughout this college process. Overall, Jim is a pleasure to work with as he is honest, smart, and encouraging.

I took English lessons with Maura for 6 months. During the classes, we put the emphasis on conversation. We talked about a large number of topics : Politics, Society, day to day life... It gave me much more confidence in my relations with English speakers and, coming from a European country, it also helped me to understand better the American culture. Maura is open, friendly, she makes you feel at ease and she enjoys teaching ESL.

Robert teaches Italian lessons. I am a terrible student frequently confusing my High School French with what Robert patiently teaches me. He is good humored, well prepared and pushes me along just enough. I am never frustrated but always encouraged. Robert always is smiling and I never feel silly with my pronunciation. Robert really is a great teacher. I wish I had met him years ago before my first trip to Italy. I look forward to my lessons all week. Bravo Robert!!!!

Jennifer is a smart, communicative, and excellent English tutor! She is knowledgeable about many kinds of topics such as cultures and arts, but not just limited to these. She is also very much interested in different cultures of other countries and always tries to understand international people from that point. I truly recommend her as a private English tutor to anyone who wants to improve English communication skills for school or work. I bet you will see improvement!!

I learn English from Connor. He proves what a professional great bilingual teacher should be and opens my eyes to the American culture. I have a full time job, he always tries his best to get our class arranged. By using various appropriate methods: reading, dialogue, writing, discussion, he makes my learning interesting and helpful. I got admitted to Columbia University thanks to his help and encouragement. He inspires me to love learning, explore new fields as well.

Michael is a very experienced teacher. We are developing a study plan for my teenage Chinese stepdaughter to master the English language. He spends hours preparing material for sessions with students that he tutors. He is patient and he understands the needs of non-English speaking Asian immigrants. He is truly a gentleman and shows great respect when he communicates with others, no matter what their age, race or nationality. Thank you, Michael, for all that you do.

Victoria is a wonderful teacher and person. We started understanding and combining simple phrases while travelling in Spanish speaking country after couple of months of her lessons. And after a year I already had working knowledge of Spanish.

Mrs. Schoenwald was my 10th and 11th Grade english teacher at a special needs High School. Mrs. Schoenwald's instruction was always clear and concise; when focus was lost Marna was able to easily redirect the class back to the lesson. With Marna's guidance and teaching style our class was able to excel and enjoy learning even when what was being taught (book being read or essay) was not interesting or engaging.

    About

I am a New York based English (ESOL) teacher and have been teaching English for over six years. I hold a BA degree in sociology and am TESOL certified. I have taught beginner, intermediate and advance English to adult students who are recent immigrants to the United States, in addition to international high school and university students who are on vacation in New York. The city offers a rich diversity of culture, sights, sounds and attractions, offering a wondrous environment to practice this crazy, beautiful language we call English. Do you need help with grammar, pronunciation, phrasal verbs, idioms, conversation or just want a refresher? I would be more than happy to be your English guide. Small group and semi-private and private classes are available.

    About

I am a master's degree graduate from the University of Ireland who has written numerous published economic articles as well as authored poetic and narrative prose.

    About

I am a Long Island based instructor and certified to teach English as a second language; this includes English literacy and reading. I have taught at a community college in New York and really enjoy watching the light bulb flash when a student understands something new. Also, I have been a swimming instructor and a lifeguard for seven years. I've coached and worked with all levels and ages. I am a motivator and your cheerleader, and I want to help you accomplish your goals.

    About

I understand that content is equally important to test technique. Studying isolated patches of topics without connecting them to test strategy does not spell success in the game of standardized test taking.

    About

I teach at the student's level. I try to make the lessons fun. We work with a textbook and also have free conversations.

    About

I have been tutoring Math, English, and Spanish to K-12 students for the past 5 years. I love teaching and watching my students learn and succeed. I tailor my teaching to each student's individual learning style, and I use a lot of visual and hands-on methods in my tutoring to ensure mastery of the material. I also have experience working with students with special needs.
