Introduction: We bring of dedicated CARING artists and professionals into the private event world. In private events such as weddings, Bar mitzvahs, Sweet 16s and the like, the level of commitment to excellence means that the company is able to transfer their love of music, dancing, entertaining and simply life into creating joy for you and your guests. One would think that this is what all DJs and entertainment companies would do, but being on the inside for over 20 years, I can tell you from experience that it's simply not the case. Many professionals are working because they can do it and get paid. Not because they love it. The attitudes and positive natures of each person, artist and staff member has an affect on your event. If a person comes into your space and doesn't really care about being there, but just does what's necessary for the job, that energy is FELT by people. On the other side of the coin, those whose enthusiasm and excitement in sharing their love and joy in bringing out the best in your guests is ALSO felt. But in a way that enhances and creates an opportunity for something magical to take place. That combination of real people with heart who are talented artists is exactly what you as a person creating an experience for your guests wants. This is the combination and chemistry that allows magic to happen and gives you a chance to have a truly top 10 lifetime experience. This is how I have selected my team, my talent and my staff. Because I've experienced that magic too many times at events to settle for less. And I know that one person with the wrong agenda can puncture that fine building perfection. So at LSNY I have created a company based on delivering the goods over the words. We simply would not have made it 20 years if we did not do that. I love seeing the emotion and sheer joy in our clients faces. I love the hugs and the sometimes speechless happiness after the event for what we were able to help bring to their day. I love getting a letter or phone call saying this was "the Best Party I've ever been to". Or "This was the best party any of my guests have been to." Most fulfilling which has happened on 12 ocassions since we began: "This was the greatest day of my life". I mean for most of us life is not a picnic. We work hard, and take care of our families. We wonder if what we're doing will mean something to someone. We all long to matter. I'm greatful to matter. To know that my company gives SO much of themselves to these clients, to their guests. It's overwhelming to see how much they give of themselves. And yes their getting paid, but to go that far...that's not about money. That's about wanting that feeling to know that their contribution may have brought one of the best experiences ever felt to these guests and our clients. That's what motivates us. That's what we love and why we do it.

Lightening Shakes NY did a great job at my daughter's bat mitzvah party at the Prospect Park Picnic House. Michael worked with us to keep it within our budget but still have it include everything we needed to make it a great day. Michael was a good MC, and his motivators were great, keeping the kids engaged with dancing and games. Though it was a daytime party and my daughter was worried that people wouldn't want to dance, thanks to Michael and his crew, everyone did....and she had a great time! We loved the special green screen photo booth, which Michael personalized to make it especially fun and personalized for our daughter. We didn't want a typical bat mitzvah party, and Michael was responsive to our requests, from the DJ's playlists to the volume and the tone set by him and the motivators. Everyone had a great time at the party, and Michael and his team had a great deal to do with making it an event that my daughter, her friends, the whole family and all of our guests, will remember with pleasure for years to come.

Michael and his entire team at Lightning Shakes NY facilitated an outstanding Bar Mitzvah! Many of our guests couldn't believe it was a Sunday afternoon affair. It had the look and feel and energy level of a Saturday night party. Michael's dance team was amazing. Our guests are still talking about it. We added a saxophone player and drummer as well. Michael was referred to us by a friend at our temple and he did not disappoint. We liked the fact that included in his price were games during the cocktail hour. The only extra was the pop-a-shot and his crew had it set up for the cocktail hour and then seemlessly broke it down and reconfigured it in the main room in advance of the main doors opening. We used his photo booth as well, which was a lot of fun. We didn't want to do frames and he was able to get us vinyl sleeves and tassels so the pictures can be placed in the sleeves and it became a bookmark. Our venue had built in lighting so we used the venue's lighting; however, you can use Michael as a one stop shop for lighting, video, photography and more. I selected 20 songs in advance, I didn't keep track but the DJ knew exactly what was current and the music and flow was excellent. We also did a trivia game suggested by Michael. He provided a very good checklist as well. We recommend Michael and his team for your next affair, you will be very pleased!

Cannot say enough good things about our experience with Michael and his team for our daughter's bat mitzvah. People are still calling it the bat mitzvah of the century - we even got thank you notes from our guests for having them - because of how much fun people had and we owe that to Lighting Shakes. I was concerned about a "canned" event where everything felt like it had been done a thousand times but I couldn't have been more off-base. The dancers were warm, engaging and enjoyed dancing with the adults as much as the kids. Michael kept the party moving the entire time and respected my wishes about everything. The music was terrific and the perk of having someone taking photos of the party and then posting them as part of the montage while the party was still going was a real hit - plus they make great mementos after the fact. There are really aren't enough words to express how pleased we were with Michael and the entire Lightning Shakes team. You will be lucky to have them at your event.

I first saw Michael and his team in action when I attended one of my close friends weddings back in August of 2011, where he was the MC. I was absolutely blown away by his energy level and ability to keep everyone at the reception engaged and just knew that I needed to have him/his company MC & DJ my upcoming wedding as well. I followed thru with that and as a result Michael and his talented team from LSNY Events gave me, my now husband and all of our guests a night that we will never forget. I had so many people tell me afterwards how amazing the music was and how they have never seen so many people out on the dance floor, and they were right! Michael has the natural ability to gage each particular crowd and deliver exactly what it is will make them feel good and get them out on that dance floor! This past weekend was my son's Bar-mitzvah and I couldn't imagine it being such a huge success without the help of Michael and his crew. They are some of the most professional people I've had the pleasure of hiring. Not only did they make the party a remarkable success, they were extremely personable and wonderful to be around. They had the kids smiling from ear to ear and even some of the adults that ventured off and found themselves being kids again in the photobooth. This was a great experience and I most definitely recommend their services to anyone who wants at least a little bit of stress taken off their shoulders while planning some of the most important of events. What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
That it's more than throwing music on and shouting into a microphone. That produces one kind of result. Can be good. But there's not much skill involved and most people can do that. But a great party requires finesse and understanding about appreciating people into excitement. It has build, and it feels natural. When you see the entertainment using way more energy than the guests than something is off, it's not in sync. The entertainment is there to enhance and elevate the guests to bring out their best, not to say hey look at us, wouldn't you love to be able to do this.
