Can only say great things about Mark. We had new trim installed and needed everything caulked.I was a little nervous at first since he exclusively a painter. However just like all the other reviews and jobs he's done, he was perfect. Every joint/line was razor sharp. He's also a good guy which always makes the job easier and more relaxing. Without question I recommend for any job you have.

I had a terrific experience with Dominic and his team. They were extremely easy and wonderful to work with from start to finish. They were so great we hired them a second time. They painted the entire downstairs of our home and then a bedroom and bathroom since. The quality of work is wonderful. In addition to painting the walls, he also patched up several holes from art and curtain hardware and it looks flawless. I'd also like to note how neat and clean they were. NO mess left behind! Dom was extremely easy to communicate with always answering phone calls/texts/emails very promptly. I also changed my mind on a few things last minute and he was very accommodating and met every request. The price was extremely reasonable and I have recommended them to several friends/family members. Dom and his team are extremely trustworthy and I only plan on using them for any future jobs. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Tom quoted me for a full stucco job (3 sides of house) on my row home in Philadelphia. Tom was great to work with and helped walk me through the process and how he would improve the look of of poorly done stucco around my house. Project started on time, but had some hiccups along the way because of issues with stucco company hired. Tom went out of his way to get workers back on the job when the timeline started to unravel. He was awesome to communicate with and handled all the issues I had, even taking care of a broken window during the job. The stucco guys ended up being taken off the job because of their inability to complete tasks, and Tom worked to bring other guys out to finish the job and do some finishing touches. Though everything took a few more weeks than I would have liked, Tom was fantastic throughout the process and I will definitely bring him on again for my next big project. I am also recommending him to my neighbors.

The glowing reviews that Rory Richard has received are no exaggeration. Rory just completed a job painting a double vanity and bathroom cabinet for me and I couldn’t be happier with the result. Rory is fantastic! He is prompt, neat, hard-working, and his pricing is very reasonable. Most importantly, Rory is a perfectionist who does meticulous work. It is rare in today’s world to find somebody this conscientious. I highly recommend this contractor.

i needed a painter to come in over the weekend while my husband was out of town. Painting the house was to be a surprise Father's Day gift. The crew showed up at 9 am on Saturday and stayed till 6 pm. They came back Sunday morning and finished the project by 3:30pm. Their work was impeccable and i could not be more pleased! I should mention the owner of the company was in the hospital recovering from a full knee replacement and ran the job from his hospital bed. I highly recommend STP and will be using them again! Will's Home Remodeling was the general contractor for my major residential renovation at 183Jordan Road in Somers Point NJ. The project took about 4 months to complete where we completely gutted and renovated this badly damaged home that sat vacant for over 5 years. This was a $100k+ renovation for total labor and materials and Will and his team were the glue that kept the project on track and within budget. Will and his team personally completed all new vinyl siding, all new windows, new roofing, new gutters, new insulation, several new walls, stucco and cement repair, new stair steps, bathroom and shower and back splash and accent tile work, kitchen cabinet installation, wall board, spackling, caulking, trim work, door frames, shower doors and many miscellaneous requests. Will partnered well with some challenging subcontractors in the areas of plumbing, electrical, outside concrete, flooring and granite counter top installation. When the other subcontractors dropped the ball, Will was always there with a creative solution and to help get them back on task. I would definitely hire Wills Home Remodeling for my next project.

Geno and Nice Price Concrete were very professional and courteous. They showed up on time, did the work right, and cleaned up after they finished. They put up a stucco wall and gave us a 3 year warranty. They also fixed the fence that the neighbor busted. The price was right and we're pretty happy with everything. Thanks again Geno!

I hired Premier Choice to paint the exterior of my house. They did an excellent job. I was impressed with the organized and professional way the entire team worked together. They kept to their estimate and finished in a timely manner. I didn't realize how timely until a neighbor (involved in construction) stopped by and mentioned he had seen the painters and was really impressed with how hard they were working and how quickly they finished. Thanks Premier Choice. I would recommend Premier Choice, indeed, I have recommended them to several people.

We had a roof leak that caused drywall and hardwood floor damage. Excellent painters and did a good job with vinyl flooring. The family contractors did a great job at a reasonable price. Everything was restored to good as new. They are very hard and efficient workers. Very polite, start early and finish late. Maintain a very clean work area. They removed all trash and left a very orderly work area each day. We definitely would hire them again and recommend them to others.

Had Water & Fire out when we had a house flood. They were prompt and had all the equipment to get the house back in order in a short time. They were very helpful in working with our insurance company. It was nice dealing with a family owned company, so was able to work directly with the owner and no middle man! We had them back to do some painting and remodeling. Very please with everything and would highly recommend.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.
