Dealing with many vendors while planning a wedding can be quite overwhelming but working with Sweet Harmony was a wonderful experience. I love being on top of everything, I am organized and very particular. However, I found Tara the owner amazing to work with throughout the whole process. She is professional reliable, accommodating and lovely. We hired a String Quartet to play at our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. Then, just a month prior to the big day we decided to have a Jazz trio (Piano, Saxophone, vocal) playing while having dinner during the reception because we love live music. Tara made it happen! The day of the wedding all the musicians arrived early and played beautifully. While on our honeymoon my husband forgot to make the payment for the overtime dinner music. Tara was so patient she waited a few weeks before sending me a reminder. When I called to apologize she was very understanding and nice as always. We will definitely recommend company to our family and friends and we are looking forward to do business with them in the future. Thanks you Sweet Harmony! Carolane & David
This band did a great job for us. Alan was very responsive and easy to work with. The whole group was professional and friendly, and the music was great! Everyone at our event had something nice to say about the playlist and quality of the performance. Highly recommended!
Jimmy has been our daughters Long time bass instructor along with bass guitar and ukulele. Has enabled her to excel in her school orchestra along with Jazz band. He has brought the best out of her and is primary reason she sticks with it
Amazing teacher with a vast knowledge of jazz music. Highly recommended
Sean and his band provided ideal lively jazz music at a local event. They were super easy to communicate with beforehand, and they played beautifully to a large very appreciative crowd. I strongly recommend them.
I briefly took guitar lessons from Josh. I wanted to learn to play with other musicians and improvise, and his jazz background is what caught my attention. The sessions were informative and Josh was very encouraging. I had to stop unexpectedly but what I learned in the few lessons I took was very helpful and got me out of the rut I fall into while practicing on my own.
Soulful Sounds were the perfect choice for our son's graduation party! It was an amazing night with thunderstorms, rainbow & music ! They played to a large gathering of over a 100 people. A very professional band who adjusted to the situation and played remarkably. Highly recommend!
Without a doubt the best jazz musician Ive seen in a long long time.
I have been studying with Brittany for several years, and have learned so much. We started with improvisational jazz, then moved on to transcription, and eventually I started writing my own music using the knowledge she taught me. I had only been playing a few years, off and on, and really felt progression. She has accompanied me with piano, bass, vibraphone, and I believe even a flute once. She is quite talented and can play many instruments. I have also seen her live shows, and they are really good. Her Portishead tributes are really impressive and should be seen. It is great to see your teacher actively participating in the NYC music scene. I would recommend Brittany students of all ages. From piano, to voice, classical to jazz, I am certain she can make you a better player.
Mari prepared a great medley of pop and jazz songs for me! She even played an original song that I wrote. Mari is a pleasure to work with.
Mark Weisman has been my son's piano teacher since he was 11 years old. Alex is now a proficient pianist at age 21. Under the tutelage of Mark, my son advanced from a music student to a true musician. Mark is an engaging teacher who introduces his students to a variety of music genres, keeping classical, standards and popular music all part of the student's repertoire. My son Alex's interest in music was spurred on by Mark's enthusiasm and style of teaching. The Music Workshop conducts annual performances for parents and friends so we can see the progress our children have made. My son is now in college and still studies with Mark on breaks and in the summer. Alex belongs to The Jazz Band at Loyola University as well as his own band. He has played professionally for cocktail hours and theater productions. Mark has inspired Alex to continue his music into his adulthood. Mark Weisman is an exemplary teacher and person.
Marla Mase is an extraordinary event planner, creator of party magic and Producer! After having been in the business for a couple of decades and working in so many different venues, types of events, parties and performances, Marla has an incredible team. She’s amassed a phenomenal, devoted group of performers, artists, designers & caterers whom she employs at all her parties, depending on need and skill set. I have worked with Marla on several creative projects and events and had a ball working with her. She is the ultimate professional, but always works in a relaxed, easygoing fashion. She is open to discussion and will always brainstorm to bring ones vision to life. Recently she produced a Rock show and party in Tribeca for me that hosted an amazing band, along with several international actors, dancers and singers. Marla hired one of her designers to transform the old Tribeca firehouse into an underworld of sea creatures and magic. It was spectacular. The food was a beautifully abundant array of hors devours and beverages. Hailing from Tribeca and having worked in the New York area for so many years for hundreds of high-end clients, Marla is truly cutting edge. She has an eye for the unique, and is able to adapt to the vision of her client. Marla really gets the job done. She’s personable and lovely and I always feel I’m in good hands with her at the helm.
Tim and his jazz quartet were very professional! They are top-notch musicians who performed a wide variety of favorite selections. I would definitely hire them again. Bravo!!!
Just started and find that Jonathan is very talented and patient. Never felt this comfortable trying to learn guitar from a teacher before. I am an experienced player and can confidently say he can teach blues both pick and finger style as well as jazz and rock. Peace fellow musicians.. Darren.
Alex was highly recommended by my daughter's classical saxophone private instructor after she expressed great interest in Jazz. Alex was able to get her ramped up for audition and acceptance to the GDYO Jazz Institute within a few short months through focused lessons and lots of practice. Although, Alex is not always in the same city to provide lessons in person, he has been able to provide solid lessons via video chat which has worked out extremely well. We are very pleased that Alex continues to provide lessons to our daughter who loves this great art form!
Chanan was a joy to work with! Knowledgeable and skilled and very creative. He helped produce a record of sacred music for me and also provided back up guitar for my band when needed a few times in Dallas. He is an exceptional engineer and guitar player with a fine ear for detail.
Oli taught me for about three years from when I was 12 years old to 15. My lessons with him played a pivotal role in my development as a musician. I found him to be extremely motivating and by having him as a mentor I was able to improve my skills immensely. I will always look fondly upon my lessons with Oli and regard him highly as an educator and a musician. This year I will be starting the Jazz course at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and it is clear to me that my deep passion for jazz music that continues to this day was initially inspired by Oli, and for that I am very grateful.
I took lessons with Billy for 3 years. He's a phenomenal teacher and just a real stand up guy. He stresses the importance of knowing all your scales and all the modes, and teaches you different ways to incorporate them into your playing. He teaches you not only how to play, but also the reasoning behind what you play. He teaches everything, from jazz, to metal, funk, ska, punk, and so much more. He's also very big on ear training so except to sing a little. It might be awkward at first but it really does help you improve! We typically spent the first half of the lesson after warming up focusing on theory, and the second half implementing the theory to solidify that knowledge. I know that for me personally, I'm easily discouraged, and Billy never stopped supporting me and never let me give up on myself. I can't recommend Billy enough!
David Easton was excellent 5 stars , he performed at our daughters wedding reception everyone that attended raved about his performance . He was early and a pleasure to work with , his sound was very clean and at the perfect volume . David played a variety of music from standards to classic and current hits of today . David was a true pro in all aspects , we would use his services again and refer him in a second .
Helene was my piano teacher from kindergarten through high school. She taught me how to read, understand, play and love music. Furthermore, my early -and in-depth- start with piano prepared me for years of trumpet in various advanced bands. Although I am not currently taking lessons, I still sit down to play piano whenever I get the chance. I'll play anything from Bach to Beethoven to Josh Groban to new and classic Disney - really anything I'm in the mood for. Helene's teaching has made me proficient enough in piano and music in general such that I can truly enjoy playing. Thanks Helene!!
As the drummer in my funk band, Middle Blue, Mike provides both an airtight rhythmic foundation and a sense of adventure. In other words, the beat is always concrete, but never *too* straight. He's always doing something interesting or mysterious with it. Also, he's full of surprises. Just the other day, he threw a rhythmic idea at me that I hadn't heard from him, and we've been playing together for over a year. If I were a drummer, I'd be excited to take lessons with Mike.
