Introduction: PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE SENDING AN INQUIRY. Thumbtack automatically charges professionals up to $65 to receive a message, so please send serious inquiries only. Thank you! My minimum rate for a 1 hour event within ~30 miles of NYC is $300. Otherwise my rate is ~$225/hour. Formal events are $325/hour with a $500 minimum. Additional travel/lodging, and special song arrangements not in my repertoire also carry a higher rate. I require a 50% deposit in order to reserve your date - I cannot hold a date without a deposit. Thank you! Grant Swift is a highly acclaimed vocalist and guitarist, fluently covering R&B, Rock, Soul, Folk, Pop, Jazz and Classical. His repertoire of over 450 works contains everything from Pachelbel to Queen, Frank Sinatra to Ed Sheeran. Swift doesn't use backing tracks. Some looper pedal magic helps to fill out the sound for medium to large venues. HuffPost called his former musical project one of "5 Must-See Indie Summer Concerts in NYC." His versatility has him performing weddings, galas, and corporate events in venues as diverse as concert halls, restaurants, and steamboats. Clients have included Dior, Audi North America, The New York Yacht Club, Time Out New York, and Hudson Yards. Biography: Swift is a New York City boy and the son of a preacher. Born in Manhattan, formed in the tri-state, and educated in the Bronx, he currently hails from Brooklyn. By deploying his eclectic training in Baroque and Classical music and drawing deftly from the palette of the R&B, Psychedelic Rock, Jazz, and Pop he played growing up, Swift crafts music that “brilliantly recreates a modern mashup sound" (Impose). While studying at Fordham University, Swift served as the Music Director of ICCA Semi-Finalists, The Fordham Ramblers (Fordham University’s original all-male acapella group.) As he earned a full double major BA in Music Composition and Philosophy, Swift’s characteristically intricate vocal arrangements led the group to their first Quarterfinal placement. Swift is one half of the acoustic duo Mac/Glidden, and with longtime songwriting partner Andy McCarthy, wrote, performed and engineered Mac/Glidden’s debut psychedelic-folk-rock album, Fall Into The Dark, (2017.) Their music video for the song “Mountains,” directed and animated by lauded sculptor / filmmaker Laurie Berenhaus, was an official selection at Sidewalk Film Festival, Indie Memphis Fest, and Leeds International Film Festival, among others. That year they had the great honor of being invited by the late, prodigious, two-time Emmy Award winning Music Director for Saturday Night Live, Katreese Barnes to perform in her home for her live stream concert series, Welcome 2 My House. Barnes wrote orchestral arrangements of Mac/Glidden songs for the concert and provided a full backing band. Barnes said, “Mac/Glidden are keepers of the classic Music flame. It was a pleasure to work with them.”

Grant did an amazing job playing at my wedding. My now-wife had a very specific list of songs and genres of music she wanted and Grant was one of the very few with the range and talent to pull it off. He has an extremely broad repertoire and also has a number of original songs. I heard nothing but praise from my wedding guests during and after the reception. My wife was ultimately extremely happy with the music. I also had a very complicated wedding due to beyond-the-norm in-law disagreements and complexity, but Grant was the one single wedding person I dealt with who from beginning to end was a consummate professional and an absolute pleasure to work with. We also made a significant additional on-the-spot change (extending the music) for which we reached an agreement in probably 30 seconds, and he gave me a discount to boot. Hire this man.

My husband and I cannot fully express just how exceptional Grant was as our wedding ceremony musician - we enjoyed his voice, guitar playing, and impeccable timing throughout the event. Grant arrived early as promised to set up his equipment, and proactively asked for our feedback before the ceremony started to make sure the acoustics sounded good (wasn't too loud or echo-y, etc...). He has a beautiful singing voice that perfectly matched our ceremony look and feel. He was also completely on top of the cues that the venue had that signaled when the next song was to be played. Multiple wedding guests came up to us complimenting the ceremony music and we just wished we had the opportunity to relay those compliments to Grant personally before he left. We want to thank Grant from the bottom of our hearts for being the absolutely perfect ceremony musician for the most important day of our lives.

Grant is incredible. We recently hired him to play at a party a day prior to our wedding. From the beginning he was very professional and made sure the whole process was stress free by willing to communicate as often as we needed. He provided us with a long list of songs and made the choosing process very easy. The musical experience was superb and the whole party commented on how they enjoyed listening to Grant. I highly recommend him for any event as he is a truly amazing musician, great person and goes above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect.

Details: General event / party • 101 - 150 guests • 18 - 30 years old • 31 - 50 years old • 51 or older • Guitar • Vocals • No preference • Pop / top 40 • Outdoors

Grant presented a broad musical playlist which made choosing songs easy. He was willing to learn our wedding song which blew us away, quite the surprise. excellent communication up to the time of the event made the experience stress free. Precaution wise we were safe, kept the indoors warm, clean and ventilated, we maintained approximately 15 feet distance, and Grant was completely accommodating and safe himself. The musical experience was so down to earth and nearly indescribably great. I can't overstate what a good person, and a professional musician Grant is.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My standard pricing as a soloist/one-man band for most events is $225/hour. Transportation up to 1 hour from NYC, setup, and breakdown are usually included free of charge. Pricing for weddings and other formal events where extra consultation and prep is needed have a minimum base rate of $325/hour. Special song arrangements and additional musicians will be billed accordingly.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Call me! I love talking on the phone with potential clients. I find that's the best and easiest way to talk through all the various things you might be envisioning for your event. No event is too large or too small for a phone call.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been singing professionally around the United States and abroad since I was 6 years old. I have a BA in Music with a focus on Theory/Composition from Fordham University. I have been playing the guitar for about 20 years, and have played various other instruments in that time as well.
