  • Mark Meyer, Solo Guitar, and Song

    (6 reviews)

Passionate guitar work, layered throughout all the music. Simple easy, professional setup. Can set up quick, and in a small space if needed. Through the use of a foot pedal, I can play more than one guitar part live, adding richness, and full bodied leads and a fuller sound. I love making it easy for the host, and hostess, and the crowd. When playing and singing with Sherrie Scott, it's absolutely STUNNING, world class. You are getting the best period. I love to teach guitar to young and old, starting with your favorite song right off the bat. learning theory along the way...SO EASY... and I'm sooo patient, you'll love it. It's not a job,It's my passion, playing from my heart and watching people enjoying and having a good time. I don't go to work. I go to play, and love what I do whether performing or teaching.

  • Hudson County Guitar Lessons

    (2 reviews)

My name is Keith Packard. I am a professional jazz and rock guitarist. I offer guitar lessons in Bayonne, Jersey City, and Hoboken, with experience teaching hundreds of students of all ages, from beginners to very advanced. I teach in my home lesson space in Bayonne, and I travel to my students' homes throughout Bayonne, Jersey City and Hoboken. I graduated magna cum laude with a B.M. in Jazz Guitar Performance from William Paterson University. While there, I studied with many great jazz musicians. If you choose me as your teacher, I guarantee that if you practice what we go over in lessons, you will learn to play the guitar. And, unlike many other music instructors, I show you how to be creative with the material on your own time and find ways of expanding and learning beyond what we go over every week. Because of this approach, my students are very motivated and achieve great things amazingly fast. Some of the things we will get into include chords, soloing, rhythm, sight-reading, songs, picking technique, effects/sound, fingerpicking, arpeggios, scales, and much more. I teach primarily at my home studio in Bayonne but also travel to student's homes in Bayonne, Jersey City and Hoboken. Rates at my place are $22 for the half hour and $44 for the full hour, but rates will increase depending on how far I travel to teach at your home. I also teach classes of two to three students which would cost less for individual students. I encourage you to find a friend to take lessons with if you would like to do this. Thank you very much, and I hope to hear from you!

  • Jake Henry Music

    (1 reviews)

I'm a professional trumpet/composition/music theory instructor, with over 15 years experience performing, recording and teaching. I hold a B. Mus. degree in Jazz Performance (McGill University) and an M.A. in Jazz Performance (City College of New York). I have studied and worked with with some of the greatest musicians of today and I genuinely love helping others to further their understanding and appreciation of music. I teach all levels and styles in my home in Greenwood Heights, Brooklyn, and can travel to you for a small additional fee. I work diligently with each student on proper technique, solid rhythm, soloing, ear training, and theory, and specialize in finding solutions to issues, theory or technique that students find most difficult to overcome. With comprehensive, unique methods working with your specific abilities, I'm committed to teaching my students the joy of making music. I believe that music is an important part of life, and that by helping people to understand their own potential, they can find in themselves a creative voice that is stronger than they ever expected. Play like a master!

  • Art Hoffer - Music Lessons

    (2 reviews)

Art Hoffer provides professional guitar and bass instruction at his lesson studio in Keyport, NJ, conveniently located right off Exit 117 of the Garden State Parkway. With 25 solid years of playing experience and 15 years of teaching experience, Art has taught hundreds of students of all ages, ranging from very young children to older adults. He teaches all styles of music but specializes in Rock, Blues, Pop, Country, Metal, and their sub-genres. The course of study begins with a brief overview of the concept of notes in music, how to tune the guitar or bass, and the names of the strings. You will quickly move on to basic rhythm, how to read chord diagrams, tabulature, and notation. From there you will be given exercises to practice which will help you develop your skills while learning basic fundamentals, technique, and theory. Students will learn how to play their favorite songs and how to improvise in a live situation. Advanced theory and technique will be stressed when the student is ready. The focus is on the student accomplishing their personal goals. Everyone is different, and lessons are custom tailored to each student's needs and goals. Not everyone wants to be a music prodigy or even play in a band. Some do it just for fun and enjoyment, strictly as a hobby. Others are more serious and want to perform solo or with a group, either playing covers or writing their own original material, or both. Some will eventually go on to pursue music degrees, teach, or play music professionally. Everyone's inherent skills and aptitude are different. Art will take this into consideration when planning your lessons and help you accomplish your goals, whatever they may be, while working at a comfortable pace and continually improving your skills. Guitar and bass are different instruments. Although many guitar instructors also teach bass, many play bass like a guitar, have poor playing technique, and/or do not truly understand the "function" or purpose of bass. Art will teach you the correct playing techniques, how to apply music theory and fundamentals on your instrument, and the technique/theory as they pertain to your favorite songs or even in writing your own material. Although his college degree is not in music, Art has extensively and continuously studied music over the past 25 years through a variety of sources including private instruction, various high school and college courses, countless instructional books, CDs and videos, and constant practice and collaboration with other skilled musicians. Most importantly, Art is an active working musician with lots of experience, as he is currently the lead guitarist and backing vocalist in two different bands. His cover band, The Jonzes, has been playing the NJ/NY/PA circuit since 2005 and is affiliated with the prestigious Stars Productions booking agency. He also plays original rock tunes with Pawnshop Majestic, a band of which he is a founding member. He has played guitar or bass in several other bands, and has recorded dozens of guitar and bass studio tracks to help other musicians complete their projects. Art has performed hundreds of times at various venues including nightclubs, bars, theaters, parties, weddings, public and private events, etc, big stages and small. He has played on stage with and/or opened for legendary artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Everclear, Charlie Daniels, Cheap Trick, The Smithereens, Kings of Leon, The Roots, George Clinton, Eddie Money, 38 Special, Dramarama, Nils Lofgren, John Eddie, and many more. Art will gladly provide a sample CD of his guitar or bass playing. He is also available for studio session work. You can hear audio clips of his playing on the websites for The Jonzes and Pawnshop Majestic.

  • Rich the Cowboy Guy Gulya

I have been a professional musician-entertainer-teacher for 40 years. I am fluent in 5-string banjo, fiddle, guitar, vocals and performance. My musical passion is taking these traditionally acoustic instruments and blending them with todays contemporary sounds. I perform in a duo known as "Hard Country" and full band in "The Badlands Band." I also perform regularly as a special guest to "The Nerds" as the character "Rich The Cowboy Guy",and when requested perform solo. You can check out my profile on the artist roster of STARS Productions. Some original recordings of mine are available at reverbnation. I also enjoy teaching and watching the student grow into their dreams. To me, music is art. It's not always about money. Art is somehow spiritual in it's nature. Money can't buy that. It must be developed and a good teacher can be a great benefit here. I can promise you that developing the "Artist" in you is my number one priority. If you're interested in any of my performing services, I can assure and promise you a top quality show specifically suited to your desires. Rich Gulya
