Jackie L. says, "I give ILV a 5 star rating. Let me explain why. The home where i grew up and still own is 75 years old and a 2 family. My tenant called saying the linoleum in the stairwell was starting to lift up and was becoming a tripping hazard. I called a flooring company to replace the linoleum with carpet. I was told that since the linoleum was old, they needed a test to certify that it did not contain asbestos. I easily found a certified company to take samples of the linoleum and adhesive to be tested at a certified lab. Unfortunately both tests came back indicating asbestos. It is more difficult to find a good asbestos removal company, so I asked the testing company for a recommendation. They gave me the name of Company X and I began the next phase for removal. This company never asked to see the report, but offered to give me a discount if I paid cash. When we talked over the specifics of the project, he hadn't realized the adhesive also contained asbestos. He was going to recalculate his estimate and get back to me. But, he never did. I was in a panic because my tenants were leaving on a 2-week vacation in a few days. I only had this window to get the project done because the stairwell would be inaccessible if the tenants were home. I then did what most people would do, I consulted the internet! I spoke with a local testing company who recommended ILV. When I spoke with Laze, it was a totally different experience than my encounter with Company X. He first explained what was involved with the entire project. Because we only had a small window where the tenants were away, he requested an emergency approval with the state to do the removal. He sent me a copy of the state filings and that made me feel confident the removed materials would be disposed of properly. As soon as my tenants left, Laze had the site ready with all the protections required to make sure none of the fibers escaped into the air. I think it took almost as long to set the site up as it did to remove both the linoleum and adhesive from the stairs and foyer, though maybe not! At the end of the project, a second test was complete with the results showing the air was negative for asbestos. I was very pleased with the outcome, and would certainly use ILV again -- though I hope I never have to go through asbestos removal again! Jackie L. Lyndhurst."See more
