FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I decided to launch Affordable Wedding Photography 2.5 years ago when I was shopping around for photographers for my own wedding. When I realized how much photographers were charging to photograph a wedding, I was shocked. At many of the bridal shows, the median price was $2000+! I thought to myself, "Isn't there a budget photographer here?" That is how the business began. Prior to this, my friend was getting married and the day of her wedding, her photographer did not show up. I was a guest and had a decent camera and said I would take some photographs and try my best. The talent came naturally that day and her photographs turned out amazing for something that happened on the "fly" so to speak. That's when I knew I had to start a photography company that was affordable too!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I specialize is many different fields of photography. From Weddings and Engagement sessions to Family and single portraits! I also enjoy doing Maternity photography as well! I love moving my photography business in different directions because it gives me more experience on many different levels! I believe that the best photographs are taken in a space that is comfortable for both the client and myself. Many people feel more comfortable outside versus in a studio with blinding lights shining on them. I have many different outdoor locations where I take clients for photography sessions! Most people are grateful for the more relaxed setting and beautiful landscapes to look back on.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I have long been a photographer working for whoever or whatever event would pay me. When I became a bride, and started attending bridal fairs and choosing vendors, I discovered that the studios I talked to wanted to sell me their package. It was frustrating not to even know who would be shooting the wedding. It was then I decided I really could do a better job, and for less money! I was considering wedding photography from the perspective of a bride with a budget. By not opening a studio I save a lot of overhead, and it helps to keep my prices very reasonable. I have new, state of the art Mac equipment for editing and enhancing photos and I enjoy the creativity that I get from my work. Designing wedding books and canvas portraits are some of the most fun. Telling your story is very important to me. I employ back up photographers and have the ability to bring in additional experienced photographers to help as needed; usually depending on your wedding size. I know what was important for my wedding, so now I have incorporated that with your needs to make your day the best experience possible. I used two of my back up photographers to shoot my wedding, and I can promise you no one will care more about your event, or provide you with the same level of quality work and event commitment than I will.
