After researching the different makeup and hair professionals in Las Vegas that specialize in African-American women makeup and hair I decided to go with Pin Up &go. Leigh was just awesome from the beginning with all the questions about her hair and make up f(I was concerned about the foundation matching up not looking to light) to the final end. She did the most beautiful job on both hair and makeup. My husband told her that she needs to come to Atlanta to show the makeup artist how to do my makeup. I must admit she did the dang-gone thing. If you all are looking for a makeup and or hair artist ladies please call Leigh you will not be disappointed.I cannot put enough words into this review as to how beautiful her work is.Thanks again Leigh.

Chic style and fabulous makeup artist! MAC professional and she knows all the tricks and current techniques! She made our wedding makeup last all day and my father almost passed out because we looked like famous movie stars! Sara knows what's up with trends and feature enhancing. She was great with each of our personal styles and different looks from my heavy eyeliner to my Mothers natural look. Sara is talented and professional, she came to our hotel the event day and will come again for my wedding next year too! Thank you Sara!

I had a one-on-one coaching with Kelsey where we practiced makeup techniques. I was very impressed that someone with so much knowledge and high quality work would be so patient with teach me a new technique. Not only did she assist me with learning a new eyeshadow technique, she also took before and after photos so that I can use the image for my social media. She was more than willing to share products and tools that will help improve my technique. I also love that she reinforced some of the beauty fundamentals during our session. Overall, I was impressed with her talent, her attentiveness, her level of patience, and basically her warm personality. I would definitely recommend her to practicing makeup artist who want to improve their technique.

This review is a little late - almost 2 years to be exact - but after just recently experiencing an absolutely horrifying makeup artist/hair stylist, I realized how important negative AND positive reviews can be when trying to make a decision with stylists you're unfamiliar with. Kiera was our makeup artist for my sister's wedding June 2013. Before our appointment, she had never seen us or had any idea of our makeup style. My mother has never had her makeup professionally applied and she was so ecstatic of the results - she felt 10 years younger and super confident. Kiera beautified my sister and myself to where we still looked like ourselves but with a little pazazz and without hardly any direction. She knew what colors would compliment us and she did an amazing job. We honestly could not have been any happier with the results and Kiera's fun-loving personality just made the experience unforgettable. The wedding was outdoors in 45 minutes from the strip in the desert (in June) and our makeup easily withstood the elements. With the activities of the day, my sister and I both passed out without washing our faces, and our makeup even lasted until the next morning without any obvious smudges or smears. Kiera is definitely your go to girl if you're looking for professional quality, someone with skills and a fun personality! You won't go wrong booking her as your stylist.

Stop your Makeup Artist search here! Miki is truly the most talented MUA I have worked with. A master of the craft, she previously instructed a makeup artistry certification program at my workplace as well. Not only is she very personable, her work is flawless. I have seen her work time and time again for a variety of occasions and it is always outstanding. I am extremely particular about who I would allow for full face makeup (as I would otherwise do it myself than chance it), HOWEVER I would confidently trust her to beautify myself, or anyone I know. Do not hesitate to book her!

Sylvia is an extremely talented makeup artist who delivers remarkable results. She is the superlative professional and very dedicated to her craft - but also a great pleasure to be around. I was also very impressed by her ability to individually listen and then adapt to what would look good on every type of face... Her care and attention to detail is unprecedented.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVEEEE HER WORK!! Nagam has been my makeup artist for the past 3 years and loved every makeup look she has done on me. She uses the best products, brushes, and is able to create any makeup look you ask her to. She's glammed me up for weddings, birthday celebrations, photoshoots and even corporate dinners. She's super clean when it comes to her brushes and applicators (this is of huge importance to me!) and she always has the latest products in her makeup kit. I HIGHLYYY recommend her!!

I contacted Shawnice with Divine Treasures to get photos taken of my five year old for her birthday. Our first theme was a princess theme, we even rented a unicorn! Our second theme was a fairy theme. We met Shawnice at Floyd Lamb Park. She was already there; set up with a few different locations for pictures and some ideas and props to incorporate our 2 dress changes, my 5 yr old (who was super excited), and a live animal! Shawnice was super friendly and brought great positive energy! My daughter immediately took to Shawnice’s fun loving direction and laughed at all of the funny faces and noises Shawnice made to keep my daughter in good spirits and comfortable during the session. Shawnice’s creative eye brought my daughter’s five year old princess fairy theme pictures to life! She was professional, enthusiastic, friendly, incorporated my wants and opinions into the pictures, and captured special moments that will literally last forever!!!! I love that Shawnice was our photographer this time around we will be using her for all photo shoots! She made our experience a memorable and magical one!!! Thank you Divine Treasures!!!!

I hired the True Virtue Team to get Myself and 12 of my bridesmaids ready. 4 artist showed up 30 min before start time to set up. It was like an army of talent was there to make my day amazing. Every single one of us looked phenomenal at the end and the special attention Rebecca and Dee gave me, well if it weren't for them I would have become a Bridezilla that day with some hiccups that popped up. They gave me an appreciation bag to add to my experience and all the makeup they used on me was in there with some extra goodies. True Virtue team are all so attentive and truly masters of their craft. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for wedding or anything of the makeup sorts. Professional, friendly and just overall great people.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you choose the right makeup artist for your wedding?

A wedding makeup artist can ensure a flawless look on your big day. Finding the perfect person isn’t all about price, though. Here are tips for choosing the right makeup artist for your wedding:

      • Research before reaching out. Wedding makeup artists should have an online presence with portfolios of their work. Find someone with an aesthetic you love.
      • Read reviews. You want a wedding makeup artist who’ll be on time, do beautiful work, and add a positive vibe to your day. Pay attention if previous clients report bad experiences with a makeup artist.
      • Consider skin tones. If your bridal party has a range of skin tones, make sure your wedding makeup artist and assistants are experienced and talented working with everyone.
      • Is your top pick available on your date? If so, put down a deposit to secure their services.
      • Confirm rates and payment. Clearly discuss prices and payment plans, and sign a detailed contract so there are no surprises on your wedding day.

Do I need a makeup artist for my wedding?

There are no rules around your wedding day, and that means it’s your choice whether to have a wedding makeup artist. If you’re on the fence about hiring a wedding makeup artist, consider the pros and cons. Some women decide against a wedding makeup artist to save money. The national average cost for a wedding makeup artist is $70-$100, which is an expense some women prefer to do without. Other women just don’t love wearing makeup. Some brides have friends or family members who are talented makeup artists willing to provide their services. If you choose not to have a wedding makeup artist, be sure to do at least two trial runs of your makeup look well before the wedding day to avoid any morning-of panic.

On the other hand, a wedding makeup artist can make the bride feel pampered and confident, giving her a flawless, fabulous look for the ceremony and reception and in wedding photos. For brides who are uncomfortable with heavy makeup, many wedding makeup artists usually excel at the natural look. Many brides consider wedding makeup part of the ritual and tradition of the ceremony, a shared experience with the entire bridal party. Ultimately your choice of whether to hire a wedding makeup artist should be based on what will make you feel most confident and happy.

How much do wedding makeup artists cost?

A wedding means love, celebration and tons of wedding photos. Professional wedding makeup artists have you looking your best on your big day and forever after in your wedding photos. The national average cost for a wedding makeup artist is $70-$100, although this price can increase based on your location, the extent of the makeup services and the reputation of the makeup artist. Most wedding makeup artists offer discounts to brides who book group services for their maids, mothers and flower girls at the same time. Wedding makeup artists who also do wedding hair usually offer package rates for hair and makeup combos. Here are some examples of average wedding makeup pricing:

      • Bridal makeup: $85-$125. Pricing often includes full face, eyes, lips, brows and false eyelashes. Airbrush makeup may be an additional $20 or more.
      • Bridal hair and makeup: $150-$200.
      • Bridesmaid and bridal party makeup: $50-$100 per person.
      • Bridesmaid hair and makeup: $100-$150.
      • Flower girl makeup: $25-$35.
      • Trial sessions: $60-$120, depending on the makeup artist. Some charge their full rate and others charge a partial rate for trial makeup services.
      • Hourly rates to stay on and keep makeup touched up throughout reception: $35-$75 per hour.
      • Travel fees: 50 cents to $1 per additional mile beyond a set radius — such as 50 miles.

How much should you tip a wedding makeup artist?

Wedding makeup artists ensure you and your bridal party are looking your best bright and early on your wedding day. Tipping a wedding makeup artist for their hard work is standard practice, and is also greatly appreciated. A tip of 15 percent to 20 percent of the total bill is appropriate. You may consider tipping extra if the makeup artist or someone on their team went above and beyond — for example, squeezing in Aunt Martha at the last second or redoing a flower girl’s hair free of charge after she dunked it in the fountain.

A gratuity is a reflection of a job well done, so if the wedding makeup artist was late, did a shoddy job or didn’t provide all the services you negotiated, you are not required to tip. Talk with your wedding makeup artist prior to the event to ask how they prefer payment and gratuity to be handled. Can you pay by credit card the day of the event and include a tip then? Do you need to pay in cash the day of the event? Find out ahead of time how to manage payment for services so you can be prepared with cash or credit cards as needed. Even better, delegate the task of payment to someone in your bridal party so you can just enjoy your day.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
