"Michael does not hesitate to go deep, especially concerning lighting and camera settings for that perfect shot. During the 3 hour mentoring session I was able not only to get the benefit of his experience with various equipment, but ask a dozen questions or so concerning all aspects of photo lighting, both in the studio and out. Being able to handle, and feel the AlienBees in my bands pretty much made up my mind, which helped a lot as I was concerned about weight.
He has given me not only the confidence to get that perfect studio AlienBees strobe for a very reasonable cost, but helped me articulate specifically what scenarios call for a studio strobe vs speed light, while maintaining the longevity of my gear, as well as taking shots, week after week. After working with him I was able to practice the use and limit of my speed light for portrait work to see first hand how various equipment affects my workflow, productivity, and rate of lost shots due to the limitations of bulb continuous lighting when mixed with a single speedlight. Now I have all the basics covered for any kind of shoot, with additional speed and flexibility of the studio strobe, when appropriate. I can now focus on a variety of portrait work at a pace I could not have maintained before. You will not find a more affordable, hands on professional photographer with the kind of varied shooting experience Michael has; or one who will help you gain first hand experience using your own gear, for that matter."
