Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: My classes are not just classes on music and technique. What I offer is a musical mentorship. I strive to develop you or your loved one in every facet artistically and musically. I seek to fine-tune your musical ear, to refine your artistic sensibilities, to inspire you to ponder questions about what art and music are. Ultimately I want to help mold an artist, not just teach a student. Only you know what your artistic path is, I only provide the means to find your path and the tools to take the steps towards developing your art. I combine the value and elegance of classical techniques with popular music knowledge and training for the "real-world." This is because I possess a very varied musical knowledge background. I have 8 years of Classical training and 7 years training in Contemporary styles. Additionally, I have been composing for 12 years (well before taking music lessons) which equips me with a more in depth look into music and how the individual parts within a song work together to shape the emotion of the whole. I believe in exploring the emotional aspect of performing and learning music rather than solely focusing on the technical aspect of it. There is much value in technique by itself, but when it is paired with the emotional side of art, its full potential is explored. This is when the best music is made. I enjoy sharing my experiences through my journey in music and the beauty that I have found in music with others and helping them see beyond the technical aspect of learning music. I wish to help every student explore the emotional aspect of music and, through this, shape the tools with which to create their own musical voice. No one can perform a certain song like you can. I want to help you see that truth so you can refine your own voice.

I am the owner of DG Rockers Guitar and Music School, a private music school located in Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Valentín has served as music instructor as well as music director for over 2 years at my school. Based on my experience, I believe his dedication, passion, knowledge, and innovation have proved to make him an amazing teacher. I first met Francisco on October of the year 2013 when he was interviewing for the position of piano instructor at my school and I remember right away knowing that he would be a great fit. His humility and passion towards serving others was evident right away. Francisco has an incredible gift of being able to connect with young people through music. Over the years I saw Francisco take initiative and build up the music program, composing songs mindfully catered to his students’ musical development, creating his own music learning sheets, inventing comparisons and games to help his students better understand musical concepts, and even simplifying more advanced musical exercises such as the Hanon techniques so that his students could begin strengthening their coordination and technique right from the beginning. I also witnessed him bringing an idea we brainstormed together to life by creating fun and effective rock band classes and putting together concerts with me to showcase our students’ achievements. His upbeat, positive, and kind demeanor was always a great source of inspiration for our students, their parents, and his peers. The passion with which he taught each class cultivated a love for music in every student’s heart that I believe has left a lasting imprint. We always believed in building a sense of community with our students and their parents. This was something that Mr. Valentín was very passionate about, to the extent that he became a mentor and positive role model to our students, catching up with them every class, advising them positively on all matters musical and non-musical, and even bringing them Christmas gifts. He also became a great friend to our family of parents, always treating them with respect, kindness, and talking with them after classes. I believe Mr. Valentín would be a tremendous teacher for anyone and has my utmost recommendation. Francisco is a great music teacher. My daughter is shy and she immediately took to Francisco. They developed a great relationship. Francisco had her playing two songs in no time. He also worked with her on her chosing selections that were good for her for school auditions. Francisco not only teaches the music, he teaches to the child, he recognizes where the child is and reaches them there. Within two to three lessons you hear the difference from your first lesson. I initially wanted to pursue lessons with Francisco as well however due to financial constraints only one of us could at that time. And after my daughter's first lesson, we realize she should be the one. We miss him terribly and have not found a teacher to his caliber yet - do not let his quiet quirky demeanor fool you - his is a all around great person - we miss him much! Should you come back to NY we will be your first clients!!!

I studied Contemporary Writing and Production at Berklee College of Music in Boston, the top school in the nation for contemporary music studies.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

All ages and from all walks of life. My youngest student has been 4 years old and my oldest has been 82. I have also succesfully taught students with learning support needs, one of which was my student for 2 years.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Besides being a music instructor I am also the main composer, lead singer, and keyboardist of a successful independent band called Balancer. We have played different cities within, as well as outside, the country. Being part of a band enriches my work as a music instructor by fulfilling me with countless musical experiences that I strive to share with my students. It also keeps me up to date with the world of popular music so I can train my clients for the musical world of today. For more than 2 years I served as Music Director and Music Instructor in DG Rockers Guitar and Music School located in Brooklyn, NY. During my time at DGR I designed and oversaw the majority of the music program, taught students of all ages, and through my innovative approach to teaching I helped increase the number of students to 8 times the amount from which I started. Most importantly, I inspired and developed many artists that will forever be some of my greatest friends.
