I made an appointment through Thumbtack four days in advance. The appointment was confirmed and I received a reminder the day before. I messaged the contractor and gave him a phone number to call on the day of the appointment. The contractor waited until the day of the appointment to send a message through Thumbtack that he does not service my area. He did not respond to my message and did not use the contact number I sent him. He blamed Thumbtack for scheduling the appointment without his knowledge, saying they are just trying to make money.

It would have been better if the vendor had contacted me immediatly to let me know that he only worked in NYC instead of notifying me 2 hours after the confirmed appoinyment
