Introduction: I am a very enthusiastic, engaging, and patient teacher. I believe that growing up in a household of music educators really made me believe in the idea of teaching as a process. I find that the process varies from student to student, but the most important thing to me as a teacher is to find out what style of teaching practice helps each individual student advance to the next level. I also believe that this "process" is a two-way street, and as a result, my lessons require practice on the part of my student. In that regard, I take great joy and pride in making practice fun and rewarding for my students. The most rewarding feeling as an educator is to see the reward in my students. I don't think there is any cooler feeling in my field.

Drum Lessons

I've been taking lessons with Pete for almost two months, and I am so so lucky to have found him. He is unbelievably patient, passionate, and approachable. I came to him with no drumming experience but a lot of years of piano under my belt, and he was able to quickly adapt his lessons to my skill set. ABSOLUTELY give Pete a call if you're a beginner, an expert, or something in between. Can't recommend him more highly.

Peter is an excellent teacher. He has been teaching our 14-yr old son for the past two years and it is incredible the progress he has made with his reading skills and rhythm techniques. Our son always looks forward to his lessons and really likes Peter as a teacher as well as a drummer.

Drum Lessons

I just had my first lesson with peter and he is absolutely amazing I am so lucky to have found him as a teacher! His teaching style is exactly what I'm looking for, and he makes the learning environment stress free and comfortable. His personality is extremely enthusiastic and he is patient, and I cannot wait to continue lessons with him. This is definitely the start of something great!

Our son, Matt, has taken private drum lessons from Mr. Moffett, at his home, for the past 2.5 years and lessons in school for the percussion ensemble. Peter helped Matt with auditions into the Senior Central Districts and this year Matt made the concert band. This is quite an honor to play at Mechanics Hall in Worcester, MA. Peter has taught Matt so much with drums and to be comfortable as to "who" he is. Peter is a great young man and we were sad he moved but wish him the best.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I am open to negotiation with my students depending on distance, frequency, and length of lessons. Generally, I offer half hour and hour-long lessons. I prefer the hour-long lessons once students reach a certain age, mostly because I like to work a bit on understanding rhythms and concert percussion, and then working on the drum set for the second half of the lesson.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I always have a way of gauging a new student's level of proficiency and initial needs within the first couple of lessons, and usually take those lessons as a chance to figure out the pace and angles at which we'll be able to work on my general curriculum.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Yes! I often take lessons with a college teacher of mine, and I am a working musician in a number of different musical settings and groups which keep me up-to-date as well as increasing my understanding of my students' efforts!
