FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Side Door guarantees to keep your costs as low as possible. Pricing is determined based on your budget. Side Door takes a commission of just 30% off the final costs. For example if you are a student or uber-indie filmmaker that spends $1000 for the production (hiring freelancers, equipment rentals, location permits etc.) Side Door will charge $300 for services. If you are a larger production that spends $200,000 on the initial costs, Side Door will charge $60,000 for services. This type of pricing allows Side Door to service both individual artists with small budgets as well as large companies with big scaled productions.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Every month I attend both business courses offered by NY state so that I can keep up with the latest and most affective ways to run a small business, as well as cinematography and camera courses offered at Adorama and B&H Audio Video. Although I have my masters in filmmaking - this business is part of constantly changing technology so it's important to keep up the latest gear and techniques.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I love making pieces of work that have the ability and power to change the way people think and act. Most companies or producers think that its all about the money and how hight the budget is. Although budgets are necessary, you'd be surprised how far a good script and strategic thought process can take you.
