About
Profiled in the Wall Street Journal, Floating Piano Factory is a small but internationally distributed piano service company that believes every piano deserves excellent care. Founded and headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, we are known for our top-rated apprenticeship program, which attracts applicants from around the globe. We select the most promising new technicians to learn the trade while customers benefit from inexpensive but exceptionally valuable work. You can now catch our newest NY apprentice, Tom Erickson, while he is learning the ropes and his rates are incredibly affordable. And as always you can trust our experienced and highly regarded apprentices, Daniel DiMaggio and Bimol Karmaker, who are handling most service calls in NY. Eathan Janney, our lead technician is only performing tunings in Peru, as an ambassador from our organization. This is an exciting project which fulfills our mission to facilitate human connections through pianos. You can find out more about our diplomacy in Peru on the FPF BLOG. Eathan is a veteran technician with over 15 years of experience. He oversees larger projects and guides the advancement of our team. Our work in NY is based in Brooklyn and Manhattan but we are able to accommodate the five boroughs and sometimes beyond. We service pianos in the homes of amateur players and concert pianists. We also regularly perform tunings for recording studios, ballet schools, and rehearsal spaces as well as take on action rebuilding, refurbishing and regulating projects. Each one of us is determined to work diligently to ensure your piano is treated like the treasure that it is.

Scheduled a tuning on the back of a musician friends recommendation, couldnt be happier!Booked a tuning and a touch up with Justice (who is listed as an apprentice).Justice was fantastic - Im not an expert so its hard for me to know exactly what was tweaked - but the piano sounds perfect and feels great to play. She noticed that whoever installed the soft pedal bar had slightly misaligned it so it wasnt doing a great job dampening the low notes, so was worth the service just to get that fixed.Would definitely use the service, and specifically Justice, again!

Daniel did an insanely good job on my Yamaha U1 that hasn't been tuned in 2 years. He repaired a broken string, tuned to my requested A=432hz, and did several adjustments across the piano. My sustain pedal works like it should again!!Very happy with the service and pricing format.

Glad to hear that Daniel did a great job. Enjoy your Yamaha U1! 🎹✨

I had an amazing experience and highly recommend Joe Melnicove for your piano tuner. I chose the Craftsman Service Visit tuning package. Joe was very professional, friendly, kind and helped explain the condition of my piano in a clear and concise manner. He helped tuned my upright Yamaha U1 piano which was so flat and hadn't been tuned in 7 years. Joe helped me adjust my piano's pedals, fix the sticking keys, raise the pitch to concert pitch and stabilize the string tension. He is such an expert and even told me about the wood and felt parts of my piano. He is simply amazing and has tuned thousands of pianos at Berklee College of Music. I am obsessed with my piano (can't stop playing it after he tuned it) and cannot recommend him enough!
