Is piano tuning hard?

Tuning a piano can be difficult if you haven’t done it before and don’t have the correct tools. For example, you’ll need a piano tuning lever, tips, electronic chromatic tuner and mutes. If you don’t have the tools or experience, you might be better off hiring a professional to tune your piano.

Is it worth tuning an old piano?

It may be worth tuning your old piano, especially if it’s highly valued or has sentimental value. Bring your piano to an expert piano tuner. They can assess your instrument and help you determine if it can be restored.

How often should you tune a piano?

Some experts recommend tuning your piano at least two or four times a year, according to the Piano Technicians Guild. You should always see what the manufacturer recommends for your specific piano. And you should schedule additional tunings as needed.

Can a piano be too old to tune?

Many old pianos can be tuned. Consult a professional piano tuner to find out if they can tune your piano.

Can a piano be tuned after 20 years?

If you haven’t tuned your piano in 20 years, you can still bring it to a tuner for them to assess and perform a pitch raise.

Why do my piano keys squeak?

If your piano keys are squeaking, it may be because something is stuck between the keys. Or, your piano may be dirty. You may be able to fix your keys. If not, hire a professional to take a look at the problem and perform the repairs.

Should you tip piano tuners?

Tipping piano tuners isn’t customary. If you had a great experience with a piano tuner, you can also show your appreciation by leaving a review on Thumbtack.

What happens if you don't tune a piano?

Tunings can help prevent damage and maintain your piano. When you tune your piano, you’re correcting its pitch. So if you go too long without tuning your piano, the pitch will likely drop — which can add tension to your piano’s structure, according to the Piano Technicians Guild.

How long does piano tuning take?

Tuning your piano might take a few hours or less. Before your appointment, ask your piano tuner how long the process will take.

Amazing tuner and super value for money. I’ve tried many tuners (I’m a piano teacher in Nyc for the past 7 years) and I can say that the experience working with Andrew has been the BEST experience so far. He was very responsive and was punctual. My piano hasn’t been tuned in a while (probably a year or so) because every tuner I’ve tried just ends up making it sound meh. The piano sounds amazing now. Will be referring him to my students. Highly recommend.

We have three pianos (two grand and one upright) at our Buddhist center that needed to be tuned. Jae arrived promptly and began working on the piano. He was at our center from 10am to 6:30pm. I have never had a tuner that gave so much attention and time to our pianos. Besides the tuning, Jae noticed certain issues that required repair which was overlooked by our prior tuners. I highly recommended Jae who was meticulous and thorough. He is also fine pianist which provides a different perspective in understanding the piano.

Had a great experience with Jae as my piano tuner. We have an “older” model that’s been in the family for decades. Jae did a great job bringing it back into tune- a real Piano Whisperer who clearly enjoys his work and music! Highly recommended. Thanks again, Jae!

My Beloved Wife Thelma and I have lived in our Home in Harlem for 47 years and the professional, meticulous and impeccable service that Mr. Robertson rendered was one of the best experiences we have had. Mr. Robertson is a brilliant, gifted and masterful PIANO TUNER and for four hours did one of the finest jobs I have ever witnessed. Our Piano sounds better now than when we purchased it many. many years ago. Mr. Robertson is a Pianist and a Violinist and when he finished his work he blessed us with an original composition and the Gospel Hymn TOTAL PRAISE. I would rate ten stars for Mr. Robertson and would highly recommend him without any reservations. Rev. Dr. C. Vernon Mason, Sr.
