Alex is an excellent mastering engineer with the fastest turnaround times of anyone Ive worked with. He also provided invaluable support across many facets of the music biz (playlisting strategy, press outreach, coding support, and more). His skillset is comprehensive and holistic, extremely responsive to feedback, and always takes my vision into account. It has been a pleasure to develop a collaborative relationship over the years and I couldnt recommend him more highly.

Alex is an incredible engineer and producer - I recently completed a mastering project with him. I have many years of working with various audio engineers and producers and I can easily say Alex is top notch.

I would highly recommend Alex Almgren and Freshly Baked Studios to any artist or production team looking to release and promote new work. Alex is a very frank and straightforward communicator, and his transparency about his work process, his time-tracking and his skillsets was a welcome relief. He doesnt overpromise, and delivers precisely what was agreed. Working with him primarily on Spotify playlisting and FB/IG ad demographic targeting, his work was efficient and timely and as our team had hoped. His decade+ of experience helped demystify elements of the process, and anything he didnt know off the top of his head was quickly researched and communicated to us. Go with Alex!

I had the pleasure to work with Alex on two new singles. He not only produced the record, mixed and mastered but also became a friend through the process. I sent him over a bare bone melody through a voice recording as well as sent him refrences of what I want the songs to sound and feel like. He was able to produce my vision with just the little bit of information I gave him. I am so proud of the music we created together. It's really hard to find genuine good people in the industry but he is a rarity. From the beginning he took my little vision and made it a reality and did it in a way I would not be able to do myself and he was quick! He works fast and hard and his passion radiates through the music. He wants to see the music succeed. He is a great producer because he genuinely loves the music!

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Mixing starts at $800 a song, mastering at $250, full production at $3,500 with a backend option that brings the upfront number down. Half to start, half on delivery. An instrumental version comes free with every mix. I don't do discounts. If the budget is tight we start with fewer songs.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Send me the song first, even a rough. I listen before we talk. Then a 30 minute call where I tell you what I hear and what it needs. If the number works, you send stems, I send a first mix in three to five days, and we go back and forth until it sits right.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Classically trained on cello, then about ten years as a staff engineer at Razor & Tie Records in New York. That room taught me how records get made on real budgets and real deadlines. Everything since has been my own studio in Crown Heights.
