Introduction: I am a private tutor in Seattle. My specialty is Spanish; though I also tutor in Math and English. I studied Spanish all through high school and college and have degrees in Hispanic studies and secondary education from Brandeis University. I taught Spanish in middle/high school for 3 years. A certified teacher, I apply my studies, background, and teaching experience to every session. I love learning, and I work to instill this same joy in my students. I work with children and adults (and everywhere in between), tailoring each lesson to your needs and interests. I offer lessons in my home work space, the comfort of your home, or another chosen location!

In addition to being a very intelligent and well-read individual, Amy is patient and kind. All of these qualities are essential when working as a tutor with children. My daughter responds well to Amy and looks forward to seeing her each week to review her 7th grade Spanish work. Amy has solid knowledge and command over the Spanish language. As a working parent, it’s also important to find someone who is reliable and Amy has never missed a scheduled appointment. I would recommend her without a second thought.

I have been working one on one with Amy for about 4 months. I think she is a very knowledgeable teacher of Spanish. She has tailored a study program best suited for my knowledge level and my learning needs. Amy has shown flexibility in meeting with me due to my erratic schedule. I appreciate her positive feedback and critiques.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I like to meet with students for a brief complementary interview before getting started, to get an idea of the student's interests and goals. After the interview, if both of us determine it is a good fit, we schedule our first lesson!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I studied Spanish and Secondary Education at Brandeis University, and taught middle/high school Spanish for several years. I am a licensed Spanish teacher in Massachusetts and New York, and apply my expertise to each student and lesson.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I was a classroom teacher for several years, and wanted a change of pace. I decided to offer lessons instead, and I enjoy the unique one on one experience of tutoring.
