Introduction: Hi, my name is Sam. I began playing tennis when I was three years old. I began competing in junior tournaments when I was eight years old and continued to compete in tournaments through middle and high school.
I played in tournaments all throughout the Southeastern United States and played in the Copper Bowl in Tucson, AZ. I was recruited to play for Davidson College in Davidson, NC, which is an NCAA Division I program. I was a starting player in singles and doubles all three years that I played, and I was team co-captain my senior year.
I have taught lessons, clinics, and camps to students of all ages and a wide range of abilities. I prefer teaching more advanced junior players. What I value most, however, is a strong work ethic and personal interest in the sport. Though I usually curtail my lesson around the skill level of the particular player, there is a basic structure to each lesson.
First, after warming up, I like to start off by working on a specific skill that the student wants or needs to practice. After doing related drills, I like to incorporate the particular skill through point play. At the end of the lesson, I like to use basic consistency drills to make sure that the student leaves feeling in tune with the ball.
