Math Tutoring

We’ve had an amazing experience and have been extremely happy!! My 10th grader was behind in Math due to challenges with remote learning. Our tutoring experience has been great. Elizabeth is knowledge and professional, and her tutoring has made a huge difference in my daughter!!

Math Tutoring

Couldn't be happier or ask for a better experience. Our daughter, who was always a sort of middling math student and really starting to hate it, was completely transformed by working with Elizabeth. We were sort of shocked (and our daughter very proud) when she ended up with a 100% and an A for her semester grade in geometry. This was up from a struggling C last year. But apart from the grade, I think she really looked up to Elizabeth as a role model and mentor who is not only very smart and good at math, but also working hard in college while doing tutoring as well. All our dealings have been extremely pleasant, professional, and understanding. She is very savvy with teenagers and is actually the first tutor who has ever worked out for us since our daughter tends to be a little headstrong and tends to view tutoring as an imposition on her free time. We never heard one complaint about having to do math, and whereas I am pretty sure she is not going to go on to be a math major, at least she will be able to face required college math courses with a strong foundation, experience with a successful study plan, and no anxieties. Really fabulous all-around.

Elizabeth is an excellent tutor! She has been teaching math to my 14 year old daughter since June. My daughter has very much enjoyed all lessons with her, and has made great progress. Elizabeth really cares about her students. I strongly recommend her!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My hourly rate is $44. Cash and Venmo are accepted as forms of payment. I usually work with students for 1-2 hours per session. For elementary school students I recommend 30-45 min per session.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I personalize all my tutoring sessions based on the student’s needs. First we discuss the goal(s), such as getting a better grade in a class or preparing for a standardized test. Then we work together to determine the steps that need to be taken to succeed and I create an individualized plan for every tutoring session.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started as a volunteer tutor at the Star Learning Center in NYC when I was a junior in high school. I really wanted to work with students one-on-one and help them succeed in school. Tutoring somebody and seeing them get better grades or develop math skills is a very rewarding process!
