Ian was very accommodating with us. He made everyone feel welcome and helped out in little ways that weren't just photography. Definitely recommend!!Jun 23, 2016Verified
Ian was fantastic! He was on time, and he always checked in with us to ask if something was about to happen so he could prepare for it. I can't wait to see the photos! Thank you so much, Ian!Mar 20, 2016Verified
Worked well with my photographer. Got our DVD quickly and lover it. Friendly and professional. Only regret was to not hire him for the reception. (Only hired for the ceremony)Dec 3, 2015Verified
This is an extremely late review. My reception was on March 20, 2015. I believe I'm being fair with a 3 star rating. I talked to Ian the entire time from hiring up until my wedding, and was told that one of his workers would be filming my reception the day beforehand. I was a little disappointed since I had become comfortable with Ian, but I trusted the worker would be professional so that was fine. I hired a videographer from 5pm-11pm. I was expecting a great video after reading reviews and watching sample work. I know that I hired them to come early since my reception really didn't start until 6pm so there wasn't too many people coming until then. I told him I wanted the small details, and to get people that were dancing so that I could watch this and enjoy what I couldnt in the moment since it was a traditional Vietnamese reception so I had very minimal time with my guests. He recorded my husband and I going table to table and was very professional so I thought everything was going great. I looked forward to the video and was very pleased with the edited version. We had a small mishap about my husbands mothers table being skipped. Ian informed me he thought it wasnt important since my husband didnt take a shot at that table, but he did with all the others. He edited in my mother in law, but did not send us new hard copies saying that it wasnt technically an error. Fine, whatever, my husband and I figured we could just copy it onto a CD ourselves. I was disappointed in the raw video. It was all of an hour and 36 minutes long. The edited video was 45 minutes long. I paid for 6 hours and was honestly expecting at least 3 hours of film. I even asked him where the rest of the raw video was since I truly thought there was more. After watching the raw footage, I noticed that not everyone at my reception was on there and that there was only a couple times he recorded people dancing. I remember more than there was on the video. I was highly disappoint and my heart sank. I cried. I told Ian about my disappointment and he offered a free photographer session to me, but that was the last time I heard from him.Feb 14, 2016VerifiedBright Glare Pictures's reply
Good morning and Happy Valentine's Day Nichole! I am quite surprised to see this review almost a year after the event. Such a gap can lead to false recollection of events. First, let me clarify that I WAS the videographer at your event. You can see my reflection and hear my voice in the raw footage. So, I don't know what "worker" you are referring to. I understand that you hired me online and had not met me until the day of your wedding. You can even ask your photographer, Brad Zangwill. With a 1 hour party delay and an hour long dinner, this is why your raw footage is as short as you claim. Also, the edited version is 35 minutes long, not 45 minutes. It was made clear that our coverage time does NOT equal recording time and I did capture everything that was going on when something was actually going on. Like you said in your review, I was with you the whole time and I was very professional. When you received your DVDs (on time), this is your email: "I just watched the video and I absolutely love it! I do have one concern though. You guys did amazing with having all the main event on the video but when we went table to table, there's one table missing and it happens to be Johnson's mom's table. Is there something that can be done about that?" I did not omit your husband's mother from the edited version on purpose. Since I was only hired for the reception, it was rather difficult to determine who the parents were. Had I known it was his mother, I wouldn't of edited her out. Regardless, I was more than happy to make the changes. I offered to send you another digital version for free or you could pay for me to send DVDs. Here is your reply: "An edited digital version will be just fine. Thank you!" Also, with regards to guests not appearing in the video, not everyone who attended would have appeared for various reasons: bathroom breaks, not wanting to be in the video, etc. It is unfortunate that the party didn't start until 6-6:30pm and my start time was 5pm. No specifics were mentioned before then, so I shot your wedding like I do all my weddings. And you saw our samples. Nonetheless, your satisfaction is my top priority. I offered a free 1 hour family photo session for you, your husband, and little one. This is your reply: "I would love a photo shoot. Thank you! But I really don't know when we'd have the time for it. I'm in school so it's a busy time right now." I hope I was able to clarify many of your concerns and why this 3-star review is undeserving. I wish you and your family all the best. The 1 hour free photo session is still on the table.
Wedding and Event Videography
I was hesitant to hire a videographer for my wedding because of how much i had already spent of a photographer. After asking other brides they said they wish they would have had one because pictures are fun to look back on but it just wont capture your day the way a videographer can. I am so glad i listened!! I just got my videos last night and i couldn't have been more pleased with the way they turned out. Ian had made a 10 minute highlight of the day in one dvd and another one with just my ceremony for a third of the price that i had gotten from other videographers. He was professional and polite, and even traveled over 2 hours for my wedding at no extra charge. After a year of planning the day goes by in the blink of an eye. Trust me, from one bride to another, you want this for your wedding!!! Ian, Taylor can I cannot thank you enough! We loved watching the videos last night and reliving our wedding day all over again. I will cherish these memories forever and someday will be able to share them with our children. THANK YOU!!!Dec 1, 2015Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? It is roughly $125/hr initially, but after talking with the client, this can increase or decrease depending on what is required. But the $125/hr is a good starting point.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We like to present several options, because not everyone wants the same thing. We like to discuss what the client expects and how we can beat those expectations. Unlike products, services are very difficult to price match, since each vendor is different and will provide different services/products. Open and transparent is how we like to operate.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Bright Glare Pictures stays updated by attending webinars and expos. We also constantly keep our software up to date. All of us have attended film and photography programs and graduated from UCSD, Cal State Fullerton, & UCLA.
