Sam was my first violin teacher, which would not be an extraordinary statement from an eight year old, but I was forty when I decided to learn this instrument. Sam was fantastic at keeping the lessons engaging with the kinds of music I was interested in learning and assigning exercises that were challenging, but not overwhelming. He was attentive to my posture and technique as to keep me from picking up bad habits that would deter my development as I attempted more complicated music. He was a wonderful teacher and had I not relocated to the West Coast, I'm positive I would still be under his tutelage.
