My name is James Worsdale and I am an ordained Minister in the Universal Life Church based in NYC. I specialize in heartfelt and customized wedding ceremonies that reflect both how you came together as a couple and a celebration of your shared vision for what's next to come.
I came into this role after having been asked to perform marriages for several of my friends, and have discovered the immense joy that comes from serving in this function. We are so glad that we chose James as our officiant! Loved his attention to details and taking all the initiatives of getting to know us, reaching out, following up with all the steps (which we had no idea what to expect) He wrote the perfect vows for us, and edited according to our feedback wonderfully. On the wedding day he arrived very early before any of us, and keep in mind the traffic from NY to NJ is a disaster so kudos for him being SO SO punctual! He will be everything you'd want in a weddingofficiant, and all guests loved his speech (beautiful voice, right amount of punctuation/volume/tone) Although it was an outdoor ceremony, his voice managed to be captured really really clearly on video recorded compared to our voices haha! My in-laws even pointed how handsome he is when she saw the photos lol. Thank you James!

James was such a delight on our wedding day, and we are so honored to have him marry us! Upon the first time we talked over the phone, we knew he's the person that will be marrying us. James did a fantastic job writing up the scripts, it's so touching and gentle at the same time, humorous and also sincere. We couldn't find a better officiant than James for sure! What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I start from a base price of $400, and adjust to offset travel expenses depending on the location of the ceremony. Please be mindful that this pricing is a reflection of the value of my time which includes travel, preparatory conversations, writing, in addition to the ceremony itself. I give myself fully to my couples. But please note, my goal is to make things as affordable as possible for you.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
With each couple, I'm happy to engage in a free consultation/conversation where you can tell me a little about yourselves, the wedding, and what you're looking for in the service. We'll work together to determine if this is the best fit and answer any logistical questions you may have. If we decide to move forward together, I'll ask some overview questions that will help us to have a shared understanding of the tone and sequence of the ceremony. I'll provide each of you with a questionnaire to fill out independently of one another, as well, as a way to more fully understand you as a couple and tell your story in a way that captures your energy and connection. I want this to be reflective of your love and your journey! After these pieces are complete, I will script a custom ceremony for you and your partner and provide a draft. It is very much a draft and I'm not precious about my words! Your satisfaction and a ceremony that is memorable and heartfelt is the true north and our aim. I'm happy to accommodate any edits or new direction you request.

I am a registered wedding officiant with New York State and an ordained Minister in the Universal Life Church.
