About this pro

How does your service stand out?

I have a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology not just a certification to be able to do personal training. This advanced degree give my a much deeper understanding of how the body performs, specifically under the stress of exercise. I also have experience with many varied populations. I work in Cardiac Rehabilitation, I have conducted research with college students and world class athletes and I love helping people to learn how to start their personal exercise programs centered around their specific needs.

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

I love getting to work with people who are hungry for a positive change in their lives; even if they need a little help along the way. A also LOVE to be able to design, implement and follow a client though their journey. In previous jobs I have not been able to follow through with my patients/clients and I always felt that was a very important step and I wasn't able to take it. Now I can!

Extremely knowledgeable! I felt confident that our workouts were safe and effective, as well as pleasant. Very pleasant and very professional. I will be picking back up with her after the hectic holiday season. I can't wait!

Cortney is very professional and friendly! I was hesitant about signing up for a nutrionist, but I am glad I did. I look forward to working with her in the future. She signed me up to receive certain food to help me reach my goals and also offered to be my trainer. I was impressed by how dedicated she was to me. She stayed on the phone with me to make sure I understood everything and answered all of my questions while staying very positive and friendly.

Q&A

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, I am constantly seeking new information to keep up to date in my training practices and so I may answer my clients questions more thoroughly or direct them to the correct resources.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I most commonly work on strengthening and toning the whole body with my clients. Some need more focus in certain areas than others. I also work closely with my clients to lose any excess weight so that their bodies are less stressed and their need to be on pharmacological medications is mitigated.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I had a client recently who came to me in fear of needing a total knee replacement. After a few months of targeted training and strengthening he orthopedic doctor told her that she no longer needed an immediate knee replacement and if she kept it up she may not need one at all!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Go in with a plan or desire to get on track. Getting healthy is a lifelong process and if you think you can just skate in and out of sessions without effort you are never going to achieve your goals. You have to be committed, mentally, financially and time-wise to achieve your goals. It's your health and you are worth the commitment.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
There are a million different ways to train! You just need to find the type of training/trainer that works for you and your body. One style is not necessarily better than another, they may just be different! But do be aware that some exercises and exercise styles are more dangerous than others and you have to be very aware of your body if you choose to partake in those types of training activities.
