The team at Steam Kill Bedbugs is exceptional. My Upper East Side condo was treated less than 24 hours after my first call to them and is 100% bed bug free. This team is hands down the only specialists I will work with and refer loved ones and friends to. They were my knights in shining armor—making a horrible situation completely disappear without a trace. We discovered we brought bed bugs into our new condo the day after we moved out of our three year rental which we did not know was infested. We were devastated. The team at Steam Kill Bedbugs treated our apartment with white glove service. After treatment, our newly renovated condo looked pristine and was better organized than how the movers and we left it. The contents of each moving box were thoroughly inspected and treated, and then each box was delicately stacked and organized by type, making it extremely easy to live in the apartment post treatment. I am very fussy and this team took exceptional care handling all of our beloved possessions—family photographs, expensive furniture, designer handbags and shoes. In addition, the products used during treatment were completely organic and left but a hint of a trace. As an asthmatic and undergoing serious medical conditions I couldn't have asked for better products and treatment method. There was no odor left in my apartment, stains, or debris. The two man team was super friendly and professional, really top notch gentlemen. During the past month post treatment, both men have happily spoken to me over the phone several times and have emailed/texted with me on numerous occasions to willingly help with any minor to major question and/or concern. I highly recommend Steam Kill Bedbugs. Their exceptional service has made this unfortunate experience a much much easier one. Thank you Steam Kill Bedbugs!

Very nice guys. They came quick, confirmed it was bed bugs and sprayed accordingly. They were here less than an hour. We haven't had any problems since. They also come back after 2 weeks and spray again just to be safe. What lead me to go with them is the 90 day warranty, just in case...

Jim and his highly trained team have been treating my home for over twelve years. Everything from carpenter ants to stink bugs, mice, wasps, bats, and other wildlife issues has been tackled by Jim in a very professional and humane fashion, and with very reasonable rates! I have called on weekends with "emergencies" (a mouse in the middle of the family room, hearing a bat in the walls, what I thought was something in the chimney, etc) and they are very responsive and patient. Thankfully, the mice have been made to go elsewhere, the bats have been sealed out of the eaves, and we have not had the rash of stinkbugs and ants we began with. So very glad to have found Quality Pro when we moved to Westchester all those years ago!

I am so thankful I called Andrew at Jersey Boys Pest control! I had an issue with bedbugs, for the first time in my life, and had no idea how to get rid of them. Thankfully, the first call I made was to Andrew and he thoroughly explained his process of getting rid of the bugs, to me. He also included a few dates that he could come out to my house and inspect. Andrew was very kind and informative, while also understanding my anxiety and fear of the situation; therefore he took extra time to explain everything he would do, which ultimately calmed me down. He came out the next day, did a treatment, came back a few weeks later to do 1 follow up, and I have been bedbug free ever since. Andrew even found a minor roach issue in my house and did a treatment for them as well with the same results! I am forever thankful to Jersey Boys and Andrew, I would highly recommend them!

New Jersey Bed Bug Killers helped my family with our bed bug problem in Fairfield, New Jersey. The whole treatment took about 8 hours. They did it while we were at work and the kids were at school. The whole process was great. They solved the problem in one visit and explained everything. They're chemical free and that was important for our children and pets. If you ever get bed bugs, you should contact these guys.

    About

Our top quality and 100% guaranteed pest control services are competitively priced and customized to meet the unique needs of specific industries. We challenge anyone to consider the true value of buying pest control services from our competition. IPaying for poor pest control service and experiencing ongoing and acute rodent pest control issues is just a waste of budget, and puts companies at risk for health violations and complaints The difference between Bell Environmental and other exterminators is that we bend down and do the work! Bell performs proactive detail oriented and labor-intensive pest elimination work at all times, and then continually monitors our pest control service so pests do not reemerge. Our highly trained and closely supervised commercial pest control technicians take the time to do the work and employ the structural pest control adjustments required by any internal or external changes to your building’s environment. We then provide detailed logs and reports that show our progress.

    About

When you use Bed Bug Beagle Nose Best, you can rest assured there is no conflict of interest. We inspect and report our findings to you. We do not perform bed bug treatments. We have no incentive to find bed bugs so we can make more money by doing the treatments too. You may want to think twice about using a company that does both inspections and treatments - because this is the conflict of interest issue that Bed Bug Beagle Nose Best DOES NOT have. Human inspections are fine when there is a very noticeable bed bug problem. You need a NESDCA Certified canine team to discover the beginnings of a problem, when it will be less costly to treat and fix.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you get bed bugs and how do you get rid of them?

The increase in bed bug infestations in the U.S. is a result of increased travel, lack of knowledge about preventing infestations, increased resistance of bed bugs to pesticides, and ineffective pest control practices, explains the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It’s easy to mistake bed bugs for carpet beetles or similar-looking bugs, so infestations are often not noticed when they first occur. Prevention tips include keeping areas free of clutter, regularly washing sheets and mattress covers in hot water (and don’t forget to wash the laundry bag, too), and vacuuming regularly and safely disposing of the sealed vacuum bag. Not everyone has reactions to bed bug bites, which also may be mistaken for the bites of other pests such as mosquitoes, so timely bed bug extermination depends on identification of bed bug activity. If you notice physical signs of an infestation, contact a bed bug extermination professional as soon as possible to learn about chemical and non-chemical (such as heat) treatment options. An integrated pest management plan may incorporate one or more methods.

How much does it cost to kill bed bugs?

The cost of bed bug extermination depends primarily on how widespread the pest infestation is and how many rooms need to be treated. Other factors that can affect bed bug extermination costs are the amount of clutter in the location, additional furniture that needs to be treated, and construction of the home. Pest management professionals often have rates for room treatments, which can vary based on these factors. As an example, a pest management company treating a 10-by-15-foot room with light infestation might charge clients about $250, while the same size room with a heavy infestation and large amounts of clutter might cost the clients $300-$400. Clutter and heavier bed bug populations mean more product and longer labor time for the workers. Rates will vary from company to company, and from region to region, but the national average bed bug extermination cost is $320-$400. Bed bug heat treatments are an alternative way to exterminate these pests. Heat treatments are typically charged per square foot and tend to cost more than chemical or non-chemical spray solutions. Although effective, they are not usually recommended for occupied spaces, as the extreme temperatures can damage televisions, window dressings and other home furnishings.

How long does a bed bug treatment last?

Bed bug extermination can last forever as long as the treatment killed all the bed bugs (and their eggs) and if new bed bugs are not transported into the location. Factors that can affect the outcome are how severe the infestation is and whether all bed bug sources were properly identified and treated. When working with a pest control professional, the EPA recommends you check and call references; ask if they offer both chemical and non-chemical treatment options, if they recommend both encasements and interceptors, and if they offer two or more service visits and follow-up. Bed bugs are tiny (adults are roughly the size of an apple seed) and can hide anywhere a credit card can slide into. They squeeze into cracks in walls, behind electrical outlet sockets, in bedding, and in other dark places. Learn how to prepare your home for a bed bug treatment for the best outcomes. Michigan State University shares some examples of possible reasons that a bed bug extermination is not 100 percent effective:

    • Not all sources (aka hiding places) of the bed bugs were identified during initial inspection.
    • Not all sources of bed bugs were treated.
    • The insecticides used were not effective or, in the case of heat treatment, there was insufficient contact time.
    • Infested items such as bedding or other materials were reintroduced into a cleaned area.

How do you check for bed bugs?

If you are concerned you have a bed bug infestation, look for physical signs of their presence. Bed bugs love to hide in small, dark spaces and typically come out to feed (generally on human blood) after dark — although they will come out in daylight if hungry enough. The Environmental Protection Agency states that indications of an infestation can include seeing shed exoskeletons of bed bugs, rusty spots on your bedding (which are either bug droppings or bloodstains), live bed bugs, bed bug egg casings, a sweet and musty odor (if the infestation is severe), and evidence of bites on your skin.

To spot bed bugs, look in and along mattress seams and bedding, in curtain and furniture folds, inside cracks or crevices in the walls, behind picture frames and mirrors, under loose wallpaper seams, on recently used luggage or backpacks, inside electronics, and inside clothing or cluttered areas such as closets. If you see signs of bed bugs, be careful not to disturb them too much as you don’t want them scattering to other parts of your house.

How do you get and get rid of bed bugs?

Bed bugs can travel into your home via luggage, secondhand furniture or clothing, and other items that have been exposed to the little pests. Bed bugs are tiny and flat (about the size of an apple seed and the height of a credit card), so they can easily hide in dark, small places and hitchhike into your home. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, most people don’t even know they’re transporting bed bugs as they travel from location to location, infecting areas as they travel. The sooner you notice a bed bug infestation in your home, the easier it is to get rid of it. The EPA suggests an integrated pest management plan to get rid of bed bug problems. This means a multi-pronged approach that takes the bug’s life cycle into account, uses chemical treatment where needed, and takes all necessary measures (use of encasements, high heat washing and drying of bedding, etc.) to stop current and future life cycles. Unless you feel confident about controlling a bed bug infestation, it can be wise to hire a pest management professional to prevent the problem from getting bigger.
