We love Prima Donna Pet Services! We have two large rescue dogs and have the utmost trust in Prima Donna's Pet Service. We rely on them to care for our beloved pets whenever we go away or just need a night out. In addition to the service being extremely reliable, we always know that our fur kids are cared by professionals with excellent judment, kind hearts and a love for animals. Lisa was a wonderful caretaker for my kitty. She gave her great quality and dedicated care, sent me photo/video updates and messages with every visit, did everything that I asked for and more. This kept me at ease while I was out of town for a week. Very grateful, and will continue to use this service for pet sitting!

Latoya was super responsive and on time for our initial meet n’ greet for pet sitting. This is what made her stand apart and give us peace of mind in choosing her to watch our pup. I can’t wait to update and provide more feedback upon our return

Natalie is a wonderful, animal loving person who is very professional and detail oriented. She took the time to listen to our specific needs and requests and was very flexible with our shedules. Our pup loves to see her everyday and she was even kind enough to bring him his own blanket! That was special. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter/walker.

We have been leaving our Lab and Poodle in the care of Camp Whisker Wagon for years. Whether for an overnight, weekend or weeks at a time we LOVE how our dogs are treated like royalty! They always come home content & calm. It's clear that they get plenty of love & attention. We highly recommend CampWhiskerWagon to anyone that loves their pet & wants them to be cared for in a home away from home when needed.

Sindee was very friendly and pleaseant to talk to. She came to meet my dog and go over everything before becoming his walker. Her years of rescue work made me feel very comfortable with her coming to walk/play with him. She now walks him 3x a week and I feel great knowing he is not all by himself all day long.

Brigitte cared for my cat Bany while I vacationed in Costa Rica in January. Bany was happy and cheerful , bowls clean and litter fresh. My apartment was clean because Brigitte also swept litter and removed the garbage. Mail was collected and plants watered. I will hire Brigitte again and can recommend her to other cat owners.

It's difficult to find someone to care for your pets like you do. At the same time, it's difficult to find someone who you can trust in your home. Michele did all of that and more. I came home from a week long vacation to a very happy dog and cat with no signs of separation anxiety, which has happened with other pet sitters in the past. She even took it upon herself to take the time to brush them daily. If you need a reliable, trustworthy, competent pet sitter, Michele is all that and more.

Mark, his son & daughter have taken good care of our cat, Carmen and our dog, Rebecca many times. They fed them according to their special diets, administered their medicine, and gave them both plenty loving attention and exercise. The Dawg Vacation House of NJ provides much better care than boarding at any Kennel and their rates are lower too. I would definitely recommend The Dawg Vacation House of NJ for all your pet care service needs.

I met KalI through a friend a couple of months ago after I had been looking for a good dog walker for some time. My dog Bub and myself met Kali in a park in Tarrytown. She is polite, well spoken and certainly was a natural with bub. She has been walking bub for a while now and I can say this. He's thrilled when she arrives and exhausted when she leaves. That's all I can ask for in a dog walker. I highly recommend her

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
