- How did you get started doing this type of work?
The trade found me in the mid-80s. Friends of mine were videographers who had just finished taping a series of documentaries about faux finishing which they lent me. Even though I was a trained artist I had never heard of this type of painting before as it was just beginning to become strong presence in residential design. Upon viewing them I basically taught myself and around that time coincidentally another friend who was an interior designer hired me to do a large decorative painting project for an important client of his who was redecorating their 5th Avenue apartment in New York. Without any prior experience I was able to complete the task to everyone's delight and I've never stopped since. That was almost 30 years ago.
