I really love their project intake form. I have worked with graphic designers in the past who were unable to produce what I was looking for, but they never asked the right questions. I think SPARK asks all the right questions and it shows they care about the finished product and happy customers. The process was really professional and the results have been incredible. This is one of the rare occasions I would give a 6 star review if I could.

When we started looking for a graphic design artist. Vance was the first person to contact me and as soon as I finished speaking with him I knew he would be the person to do business with.Vance was professional and provided everything and more than what we agreed on.We needed a wedding magazine done in one week and Vance assured us he could do the job. We met and discussed the job and like he promised the next day we had previews to look at and make any changes we wanted. Vance never hesitated to change or accommodate any request we had. He was truly easy to do business with.Vance checked in with us daily to make sure we were all on the same page. He kept us informed about all that was happening, he even went to the printer to make sure they were shipping our package in time so we could have it, and within six days our magazine was done printed and shipped back to us. Now even though I knew it would be lovely I can't tell you how pleased we are of the finished product.Vance you are the best at what you do we are so pleased with your work and it was truly a pleasure doing business with you. We highly recommend you to a everyone.Great Job Vance Klein of Crosscheck Designs!

Our relationship started with a simple phone call that was professionally answered, a prompt appointment set up and finally a team being assigned to my project that couldn't be better and more professional. Every aspect of SYNERGY is of the highest professional standards and my organization couldn't be happier with our web development PARTNER. They have and are handling most aspects of my website...from the initial graphic design, to the entire website development, to the video production and finally to the marketing. They do it all and they do it all very well. I could go on forever but just trust me when I say that if you're looking for a website development partner look no further than SYNERGY. You will not regret it.

Peter took amazing photos of my family in Central Park 2 years ago! He was super patient with my daughter Chloe, who was only 14 months old at the time, and had great ideas on how to pose us and where to shoot. We had such a fun time and the images he captures were beautiful! Looking forward to hiring him for another shoot very soon. Highly recommend.

Hello! For over 6 years Kenson Clarke has been the sole web and graphic designer for my company, Vaughn Jereaux. In addition to Kenson’s phenomenal talent, he is hardworking, reliable and always provides exceptional service above and beyond the call of duty. What I find most rewarding about Kenson’s work ethic is his ability to transform a simple idea into an extraordinary reality. Anyone who has Kenson on his or her team will benefit tremendously! Best,

“I have had the privilege to work with Clive Jacobson on several projects, from presentation books, to website to branding work. It is rare when you find someone who truly gets who you are, and can then express it for you through graphic design. His eye is impeccable and his level of taste is unmatched. He is the most talented designer and artist I have worked with and look forward to working with him on many more projects in the future.”

I had the pleasure of collaborating with Bruce extensively while we created and shipped 3 release versions of an iOS game and a related Sticker Pack for iPhone and iPad on Apple's App Store over a period spanning more than two years. We needed to create a visually rich environment that would render well across all iOS device form factors and we turned to Bruce to help achieve our goals. Before bringing Bruce onboard we had the technical skills and game design concepts. After, we had a team that could both conceptualize and realize our creative ideas. All of our collaboration during this time was done remotely, and working with Bruce in this type of virtual work environment went very smoothly. Bruce was responsible for creating an extensive inventory of high-quality illustrations and graphics, including designing and executing our App Icon and other critical branding assets. Bruce can take rough conceptual descriptions, outlines, or sketches of ideas and turn them into concrete, visually delightful, production-ready assets. Bruce contributed to the overall creative process of our product design, participated in regular production and design meetings, contributed to creative brain storming sessions, solution planning, usability, and general UI design requirements. Bruce brings a critical, analytical eye and creative perspective, which helps everyone improve and be more successful in efforts he contributes to. Bruce also participated in and led marketing and branding campaigns, notably including campaigns on popular social media platforms where he contributed the idea, the message, the design, and the assets. Bruce made a real difference in our ability to successfully visualize, design, create, execute, and ship our product. I can’t say enough about what a pleasure it has been to work with Brian on my website and marketing consulting. Prior to working with him, I had a bad experience with a different marketing team and was very apprehensive to start working with someone again. When you are a new business owner and also new to the website and digital marketing world, it is very easy feel lost. Not only does Brian take the time to explain his strategies thoroughly, he also makes sure he’s fully educated in whatever platform he’s providing advice on so that he can provide the best answers possible. In addition to that, he sometimes refers me to articles or podcasts, so that I can educate myself on things that I’m curious about pertaining to my marketing. Another great quality that has been very helpful to me is his prompt responses to requests and/or questions. Any question or request for changes or updates on my website he is on top of within the day. I highly recommend Brian for your digital marketing needs!

I have been trying to get a logo designed for my company for about a year and a half now and didn't know what to do. Thankfully, i got in touch with this company and they changed everything for me. All i had to do was show and tell them the design i had in mind and they brung it to life! Other designers over charged for logo design like for over $1000, and other were cheap but so was their quality. Studio Fun House is not only affordable, they listen, they sketch out different designs to help you and they won't try to play you in to spending more money than you need to. Anytime my brand ever needs something designed, i'm coming back to Studio Fun House.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why should you hire a web designer?

Your website is often the first thing your customers see when they’re searching for a business or service on the web. As the face of your organization, your website needs to be attractive and functional, offering the latest features that users now expect. To plan and design a site that both reflects your company’s mission and values and appeals to customers takes a professional web designer. While free online services can help people set up websites, web designers can provide a unique solution made specifically to meet customers’ personal or business needs.

Most web designers offer a wide variety of services to make your website aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. Modern web design must be mobile-friendly and scalable, capable of expanding to include a blog, social media sites, and even video streaming; web designers are experts at integrating various web technologies. They can build the site, add functionality, test it, launch it on a live server, and track and maintain its performance.

In addition to web design and graphic design, some web design providers also offer development and security services, including search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing and management, logo design, site maintenance, domain registration and hosting, protection against malware, and digital marketing and content services.

How much do web designers charge?

The average cost for hiring a web designer varies greatly depending on the scope of the work, which may range from building a site from scratch to rebranding an existing one, as well as the amount of content and graphics the designer will create. In general, the more complex the project, the more time the design agency will have to spend. Because web designers often work on an hourly basis, the longer the project, the higher the costs; you can count on the web designer spending at minimum 10 hours to create a very basic website with just a handful of pages with few elements. Prices also depend on the designer’s skill set, the process, and the company’s rates. In general, the national average cost for a basic website package starts at $500, but a customized website can cost as much as $2,000 or more. Here are typical average hourly rates, broken out by the complexity of the work:

  • Basic layout and user interface: $15-$40 per hour
  • Content management system design: $20-$50 per hour
  • Custom website design with custom code: $45-$75 per hour

What should you look for in a website designer?

A professional web designer creates the look and feel of your website, collaborating with you to choose colors, creating logos and other branding materials, establishing page layouts, and creating sample pages. An important part of web design is making sure the site is functional, meets your goals, and is easy for users to navigate. When you’re looking to hire a web designer, start by reviewing the person’s portfolio. Look for samples of work that match what you envision for your website, including experience building the types of pages or features you want. Make sure the web designer is familiar with your industry and understands both industry trends and web design trends — an old-fashioned or out-of-touch site will turn customers away rather than intrigue them.

Because web designers tend to work as freelancers on a project basis, they must be excellent communicators, willing to manage their own work, and available on your schedule. Some critical skills, such as working collaboratively and responding enthusiastically to feedback, aren’t core to good web design, but make working with a web designer much easier. Finally, look for a web designer who has cross-functional knowledge, such as understanding marketing and conversion rate optimization in addition to web design.

What makes a good logo design?

A good logo is an easily identifiable, memorable image that represents your brand. A good logo design aligns with your business model and expresses your company’s core values. A good logo design is simple, appealing, and easy for customers and viewers to quickly process. Some of the key components of a great logo are type, color palette and design. The scale, font and arrangement of the text you select will all make a difference in the feel and representation of your brand. A graphic designer will help you home in on the colors that best represent your identity and help you keep the color palette simple. The design of your logo includes the shapes you select and the way the color and type are arranged together. Investing in the services of a professional to create your logo design is likely a smart investment for any size business. Nationally, the average price range for a logo designer ranges from $170 to $250.

What do you look for in a web design company?

The web design company you choose must be able to interpret your company’s mission and identity and turn it into an appealing website that connects with potential customers. They must help you reach your target audience and meet your business goals. A web design agency should have on staff both talented web designers, with fresh ideas and extensive technical and creative skills, and a marketing team that knows how to drive traffic to your site, encourage visitor engagement, and convert visitors into customers. Web designers should be able to build in search optimization and integrate your site with a content management system and e-commerce tools. Look, too, for a website design company that understands responsive design and can optimize your website for mobile devices and desktop browsers. The right web design company understand current design and website trends, has experience building sites in a variety of industries (not just yours), and has an expansive portfolio of live websites. Finally, don’t simply hire the cheapest bidder — in web design, as in all things, you get what you pay for.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
