Intuitive Dog Training

Introduction: I can put you on track to resolve most issues within 30 minutes. The 2nd 30 minutes of a session is usually putting it into practice. If you've a trainer who's going to work with you for weeks or months, they're not doing it right. My process: I meet with you and your dog, see your interaction, learn how the issues manifest, and then demonstrate how to fix it. You then put the new techniques into practice and keep me apprised. Most of my 1st sessions w/clients last 2 hours. There is rarely need for a 2nd session...b/c you will see improvements almost immediately. I started dog training by doing it free for several years, mostly for people with rescue dogs who were tight on money. I probably helped a couple hundred people (and dogs!) before coming to Thumbtack. I still only do this part-time, often with extreme cases (like the two abused dogs I took in and re-trained to be happy and confident -- it took me just a few weeks to get these poor pups ready for adoption). I use a technique that became popular 10 years ago called "NaturaI Training." It uses your dog's breed and personality in a way that makes training easier. This, along with positive training will help you have a happier dog-friendly household! Many trainers are stuck in the old school of teaching your dog sit and stay. That's a teensy part of the equation. I'll show you how to interact with your dog in a way that teaches him/her to listen to you and generally respect all other humans and dogs he/she comes across -- all while still being able to have fun and BE a dog! Interacting with the people and playing with the dogs of course.
