Introduction: I am a New York based guitarist/bassist teacher. I began playing bass guitar at a young age and gradually picked up the guitar as well. With experience playing with many bands and musicians, I am well equipped to teach you in any style you wish to play-whether that be from acoustic guitar to extreme metal. I absolutely love teaching and have students of all ages and levels. What is most rewarding to me about my work is when I see a student who progresses through his/her hard work, combined with a love for the instrument and music in general. I also love the fact that I learn something new from each and every one of my students. It is my job to provide them with the skills to improve on their instrument, and I approach each student differently according to their strengths and personality. ***If you are located outside of New York City I am only offering remote lessons. Thank you!***

My guitar lessons with Lane have been nothing short of wonderful. Lane is knowledgeable, patient, kind and such a joy! I've been studying with Lane for a little over a year now and I can now play music that I've wanted to play for years. I cannot recommend him highly enough!

I've just had an excellent experience with Lane. He is so patient with me and explains things very very well. I definitely would not be playing guitar as well as I am without Lane. Highly recommend!!!

My son has been studying with Lane for almost a year now, and I cannot believe how much he has improved!! Lane is patient and kind, and makes the lessons so enjoyable. My son is always so motivated and excited for his next lesson, and practices every week without me telling him to! We have also been to a couple of Lane's gigs and he is a very talented player-we are so lucky to have a teacher like him and I cannot recommend him highly enough!!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My rates are very reasonable and affordable, and they are based on the length of the lesson. I offer 50% off the first trial lesson.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I try and find out everything I can about the customer and tell them a little about myself so that they feel comfortable walking into the first lesson. I like to hear about what motivated them to want to take lessons, what they are looking to accomplish by taking lessons, short/long term goals, etc. I give lessons once a week, although a few of my students request lessons twice a week.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started out on the double bass when I was very young, but soon became attracted to the bass guitar. I was never forced into it, and I was always very motivated to learn on my own. I've developed my own technique over the years that I have found to be effective not just for me, but also for my students. I guess I've never really considered it to be "work," although I do believe that hard work is a lot of what goes into becoming good at what you do.
