The first thing that stood out to me was her patience - math doesn’t come easy to me, so it was important to have someone adjust to my learning pace. Ms. Li would try new ways of explaining things to me, from verbal explanations to visual representations, and even real-world applications. I can tell she loves what she does and her kindness is unmatched. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience.

I can’t put into words how helpful Heidi has been since booking with her. She was responsive, communicative, understanding and very thorough with feedback on every session. My son is not the type to take to everyone and can be reserved but he was adamant about being present and ready for his tutorial sessions with Heidi. I am thankful for thumbtack because it truly allows you to reach out to trusted professionals and booking Heidi for help with my sons Geometry was no exception. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I get some background information from the student to determine the type of math they are studying and their approximate level. I then work with them on any pressing assignments or preparations during our first session. I like to get feedback from them to see what worked and what did not work for them in our first session so that I can adjust my teaching during future sessions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors degree in Math from UMass Amherst and a Masters degree in Secondary Math Education from Columbia University’s Teachers College. I am also a licensed math teacher for grades 7-12 in New York.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have tutored primarily high school students in subject-level math as well as SAT/ACT math. I have also tutored the occasional middle school and college student.
