- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
As a musician, I believe that the first task of a pedagogue is to inspire and nurture students so they can grow from an inner, self-motivated core. Then, it is up to the educator to form students with the right tools to accomplish goals in an effective way. In the case of piano playing, this means proper technique, musicianship, and strategies to learn as quickly and efficiently as talent and dedication allows. With this in mind, I tailor each lesson to the unique needs of each student. Students of all ages and levels learn from the most basic elements of piano playing to the refined elements proper of this art. In short, a whole world is opened for them. At lessons, students learn to read music, classical piano technique, piano repertory from all periods (baroque, classical, romantic, and modern), all the aspects of music refinement such as controlling tempo, rhythms, dynamics, and character. Furthermore, students learn the theoretical aspects of music with weekly written exercises.
