Hello, I'm a singer, actor, and vocal instructor based in New York. I was an adjunct faculty at New York University Vocal Performance Program and currently serve as the owner of SAKI Vocal Studio, a member of National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and New York Singing Teacher's Association (NYSTA). I received a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from New York University.
At New York University, I taught private voice lessons to students from beginner to advanced singers. My goal is to find your true voice so you can sing in a healthy and sustainable way across the genres such as classical, music theater, pop/rock, R&B/soul, country, etc. I work with various singers including musical theater actors, recording artists, singer songwriters, opera singers, church soloists, Vtubers, and voice actors. If you are interested in Japanese songs, I am happy to teach them too. Also, I would love to teach voice for acting and public speaking. I will cater my lessons to your needs!
I also studied voice science (vocology) through the NYU Voice Center under the SLPs and Laryngologists, so I understand how the vocal system works. I will provide explanations that make sense using anatomy and physiology.
My teaching style is “taller-made” for each student and their development. We will find what works best for you. I aim to help each of my students gain the balance of technique and expression to become an effective storyteller. In our lessons, we specifically focus on:
*Unlocking voice with least amount of effort
*Airflow and resonance
*Acoustics (source/filter balance, alignment)
*Musicianship (notes, rhythm, tempo, dynamics etc)
*Reading sheet music
*Expanding the range and registers
*Diction and song interpretation
*Vocal tools to adjust their instrument
*Flexibility to let colors come out
*Truthful communication as a storyteller
*Joy of singing!
I currently offer only online lessons. Our lessons are available via Zoom and are possible across all time zones. As for building vocal techniques and delivery, Zoom works really well. Its Original Sound for Musicians (also known as High-Fidelity Music Mode) allows your vocals to be heard clearly, so I can hear breath flow, resonance, and stylistic nuances. I will also read physical cues to adjust your posture and make sure you feel vibratory sensations in particular places. We will talk about anatomy as well. The advantages of online lessons are: you can watch and practice with the lesson recording, improve ear training, relax in your own space, flexibility, and etc!
I am really passionate about teaching and sharing what I have learned as a singer and actor. Most importantly, I always create a safe space for you to explore your voice and share your craft. Let's work together to unlock your voice and open up the world of possibility!
