Ms. B's Tutoring and Coaching

Introduction: I have been an academic tutor for 6 years. I provide academic tutoring and coaching in the areas of English, ELA, reading, writing, editing, ACT and SAT prep, college search, prep, applications, resume writing and interview prep. I also provide homework help or motivating reading lessons for young learners. Aside from my teaching experience listed above, I am also a 4th and 5th grade reading and writing workshop teacher for Harlem RBI. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in speech communications from St. Joseph's College. I hold a master of arts from Columbia University as a reading specialist. I am certified in English for grades 5-12 and literacy, from birth-12. This means I can provide tutoring at all grade levels. I am a passionate, motivated, and dedicated teacher who knows the importance of providing extra support to our youth. It is essential that kids do not fall behind in school. Education is key to success, as it unlocks many opportunities for kids to thrive in a competitive world. Despite providing challenging lessons, I make the hours of tutoring engaging. I tailor all lessons to meet the needs and interests of the student. Every lesson is taught in a positive, supportive, and appropriate manner. For older students, I am willing to attend local college visits and school or career and job fairs. I will help older students (high school and college) with internship work as well. SAT and ACT prep is a given and college essays, too! I will work with all students (especially elementary and middle school) on literacy skills, reading and writing motivation, technology literacy, life coaching, behavior management, organizational skills, and homework help.
