Patrick takes a different approach than vanilla voice lessons. He is a voice physiologist so he literally fixes your instrument. The instruction can be intense but it is well worth it. In a short time I have improved in ways I did not think possible. I am looking forward to the coming months to see where my range and ability will be.

I've been taking voice lessons with Rae for about six months now, and I can’t believe the amount of improvement I've made within that time frame. I originally didn't intend to take lessons with her, but merely have a coaching session of sorts after my unreliable teacher flaked out on me before an audition. I remember thinking “how awkward” when she started talking about what we would be working on next week because, well, I didn’t think there would be a next week. But there was a next week, and many more to come after that. The amount of improvement I made after just one lesson with Rae was astounding. She is great at explaining the impossible. Rae is dedicated to teaching her students. She doesn’t use the lessons as a sing along. She can and will correct your every tendency, but never in a way that is condescending. She truly is a great teacher. I have grown so much thanks to her, and not just musically. I’ve become more observant and I feel much more confident. I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my musical counting capabilities and overall tone quality when I play the flute. Not only am I learning how to sing but I am also learning bits of music theory along the way. We even alleviated my back pain! Who knew I was overarching?!? I sure didn’t. Rae did. I’ve come to realize that these are more than just voice lessons. They’re oftentimes life lessons. I aspire to be on Broadway one day, which is the reason I started taking lessons in the first place, and realize that I should probably learn how to dance. I once said to Rae “I can’t dance and am not a dancer”. A few months later, I changed my mindset and changed that statement to “I don’t know how to dance”. I know understand that I am capable of so much more than I originally thought, and that I just need to learn how to do these things and will eventually discover what my limitations are. With my old teacher I felt as if I had a mediocre range. The highest note I would ever sing with her was a D and she would frequently have me struggling to hit notes far below my lower register. With Rae, I now realize that my range is almost double what I had originally believed it to be. I realize that my voice isn't “pretty and wispy and high”. I realize that I am strong and am a force to be reckoned with. I realize that I am a beginner who had bad habits and that there is no shame in that. I realize that I should act without hesitating and be big and uninhibited. And I realize I have a really awesome voice teacher.

I only had the pleasure of working with Pamela for a short period of time - but boy am I glad I did. I could really hear some major improvement in my voice after only a few lessons. The next time I'll come back I'll definitively make sure to contact Pamela! Thank you :)

My son as a 15 year old was very hesitant about taking voice lessons. Chelsea has made him very comfortable and takes the time to assist him in advancing his skills. She has been a great asset to him. I would recommend her 100%.

Annie was absolutely amazing. First of all, I'm not the most confident when it comes to singing, I enjoy singing, and I write songs, but I often feel like I couldn't deliver when it comes to singing them. That's when I started looking into getting some voice lessons to help with my technique and hopefully unlock a few things! Annie showed up right on time for our first meeting with a free consultation- (awesome! who gets free stuff nowadays in New York?). She asked me what I wanted to achieve and asked me to show her my songs (in which I was nervous about but got over it quickly because she was super open minded about it). She pointed out the good things I did in the recordings and then gave me some pointers on the parts I could work on further with her, perfect and yes please. We've had 3 lessons so far and worked on 2 songs to keep the lessons exciting. She gave me a few exercises to do on my own, helped with breathing techniques, and even advised on some dietary factors that would help keep my voice healthy. I highly recommend her if you are looking for someone who cares about your progress, listens, is non-judgmental (my biggest need for my shyness), and has a whole lot of knowledge to give!

Nancy is a kind and insightful teacher who truly listens to her students' needs and aspirations. In my experience with Nancy, I've blossomed as a singer because she provides a comfortable space to experiment with my voice. She artfully tailors each lesson to help my vocal ability grow and become more refined. I am very impressed by her lessons-- instead of sticking to rigid methods that may not work for every student, she listens to my voice and experiments with techniques to strengthen my voice that have yielded tangible results! I was able to sing at a wedding recently with much more confidence and skill than I had before. Learning voice with Nancy has been an enlightening and enjoyable experience.

Amazing vocal teacher! Nicky is a great vocal teacher who is kind and patient. She has been working with my 11 year daughter for about 3 years. Nicky makes the extra effort to use age appropriate songs and part of the lesson includes music theory. Win win! My daughter can’t commit to the practice time necessary with an instrument, so we went with vocal lessons with Nicky. With singing she can practice any time and anywhere. Nicky has been able to bring out some beautiful notes, making this mom very proud. Can’t beat the price - she comes to our home and is a very accommodating with our crazy schedule. Again she is an AMAZING vocal teacher!!

My 13 year-old daughter has been taking Songwriting and Lyrics Immersion with Zoe for a year, and has loved every minute of it. She has also learned a lot from Zoe, and it shows in the songs she writes. She has been writing songs in one form or another for the past 7 years, but in the last year the wording has improved dramatically, and she is also putting music to them. I’m very impressed that Zoe was able to get her to write a happy song, unlike her usual sad heart wrenching ones. I will add that my daughter has also been taking private lessons (guitar and voice) with Zoe since she focuses on pop music singing rather than the usual theater or opera styles I was able to find, and I have noticed a great improvement in her skills this past year. Thanks Zoe!

I saw Verena for a few sessions to get prepared for open mic gigs that I wanted to start with and in general sing in public. I have had singing classes before, and what I loved about her approach is that she is so open and non judgmental and so patient, she picks you up exactly where you are and helps you build up from there. I loved that we had a lot of fun during our sessions too. They were held at her house in Brooklyn which made me feel at home and she accompanied me on her keyboard. I felt very free to move around in the space and try out things with my voice and body. I could explore my voice and she would be there as a guiding force. I can recommend her highly. I worked on a few songs that I had brought in and when leaving I felt ready to sing them outside afterwards. I had my first successful open mic recently and then another right after, so much fun. I will definitely work with her again in the future.

Working with Candice was one of the best decisions for my voice that I ever made. I had one-on-one lessons with her, culminating in a solo in a recital doing "Old Man River", and the quality and confidence in my singing ability was noticeably different. Not only did we go over the how to of singing, we went over what was happening as a singer performed, which once I started following (I'm REALLY bad at biology, haha), actually benefited my singing a good deal. Candice's specific teaching style is incredibly constructive to learning. She's patient and encouraging, and really explains things very well (will save the specifics for her classes!). And even just as a person, she's super friendly and fun to talk with, so voice lessons with her are anything but dry. She manages to blend effective teaching with actually having a good time while doing so. All in all, I can't recommend Candice enough. If you want to learn not just to sing, but to be confident with your singing (I NEVER would have attempted "Old Man River" if not for her lessons), give her a call.

I have been fortunate to have Marina as my voice coach for over a year since I started our voice lessons. Marina’s voice lessons have been invaluable in developing my singing skills. She is aware of a variety of approaches to teaching vocal and is continuously broadening her pedagogy while finding the best-practice suited for a particular lesson with a student. The voice and breathing exercises she taught me have made my vocal development consistent and strong. Our classes are always well informative, developmentally structured, productive, and very enjoyable. Not only Marina is a professional and talented singer herself with a long history of professional knowledge and experience, but she also possesses an exceptional ability to share her talent with students and to find a personalized way that would help them develop their own singing skills.

I have been a colleague of Richard's for about 10 years. About 6 years ago, I was having major struggles with my voice. I went to Richard to help me work through these problems. We started from scratch. Through the entire process, Richard was extremely patient. I never felt judged and always felt supported. I left each voice lesson feeling better about my voice, which is a rare feeling for me after a voice lesson. He is direct in expressing his ideas, which helps the singer easily translate them into singing. Plus, he's an outstanding person! I highly recommend Richard for a singer at any level, amateur or professional.
