FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rate is $60.00 per hour for tutoring and editing sessions, $45.00 per hour for proofreading sessions, and $25.00 per hour for ESL sessions done via skype. Editing involves rewriting of entire sentences and restructuring of entire paragraphs to clarify the meaning of the text, while proofreading is limited to spelling and grammar errors in phrases and single words. The following discounts apply to all new customers who initially schedule and keep at least two total sessions and current customers who schedule more than one weekly session. Each is offered a 15% discount for the second session (either in total or for the week) and a 20% discount for the third session (either in total or for the week). All other sessions are offered at the normal price (stated above).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I modify the pace and content of my tutoring to fit the distinct learning style and personality of each customer.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was an instructor at Score Education Center - a tutoring center for students, ages 5-15. Subject areas included reading comprehension, writing proficiency and skills for solving math problems. For the past twenty years, I have been in private practice. Subjects include preparation for such tests as the ISEE, PSAT, and SAT, review of subjects for grades 1-12, and instruction of ESL to children and adults. I was also a copy editor for IBM/New York Times Custom Publishing and have edited novels, graduate research papers, and news stories for broadcast on commercial radio and television stations. This range of experience gives me the background for discerning how to effectively and powerfully communicate with the written word in a variety of media formats.
