Introduction: Miss Rachel's School for Dogs has been in business since 2010. We specialize in pet training and pet care services. We offer group training, private training, dog walking and pet sitting/boarding. Group lessons are held at the Natural Pet Food store in Rochester, NY. I board dogs in my home, and walk dogs in the city. Private training is done in the comfort of your own home. At Miss Rachel's School for Dogs, we love to help pet owners bond with their pets. It's our mission to keep pets and their owners happy and relaxed. Whether you need help getting "Fido" to sit or you need him to get a walk while you work, we are here for you.

When Miss Rachel watches my dog when I travel, it's always a load off my mind. I can focus on where I am, rather than worrying about whether the dog is going to be properly fed and cared for. She knows her stuff, is prepared in emergencies, isn't intimidated by size or breed, and keeps the little guy healthy and happy until I get back.

Rachel is extremely knowledgeable, obviously has a ton of experience, and got immediate results (of course, right?! darn dog!). She had suggestions that were well beyond the obvious training routines, that we never would have considered, and that made a significant difference. Rachel has a very calming demeanor that definitely contributes to a positive, productive session...for both dog and human alike! We have already had her out for an additional session and even though we now have a good handle on the things that we wanted tweaked, we are considering taking one of her Advanced group classes if schedules allow just to really fine tune our pups listening, obedience, and skills. Over the years having owned a few dogs we have dealt with many trainers for both group classes and private sessions, including the local "dog whisperer", and I truly can't recommend Rachel enough!

We have only been to two puppy classes so far, but Rachel really knows dogs and how to train them. She communicates the lessons well so we know what to practice at home. I am looking forward to the next lesson!

Miss Rachel came for our first in home lesson today, and she's already been so great! She is definitely very knowledgeable, and gave us lots of good tips. She is patient and kind, and only uses positive reinforcement. I'm looking forward to the next few weeks of in home basic training, then going on to group classes for advanced training.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I start with a consultation where I meet the client and their pet and discuss their needs. If they are looking for training, I discuss the options and methods I use to determine a training plan. If they are looking for walking and pet sitting, I will meet the pets and go over their routine.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I grew up riding and training horses. I have always been an avid animal lover and it just seemed natural to turn it into a career.
