FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, I am and have always remained in learning mode(reading textbooks, taking online and book tests several times per year. I am subscribed to several nursing journals and I will take CEU's whenever possible) also shortly will be going back to school for my nurse practitioner degree.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was studying to become a translator (an interpreter of Slavic languages was my dream and goal)...I went to Cornell for this, when suddenly, my very beloved, sweet younger brother was killed, hit-n-run style 4 days after my 21st birthday and he was only 15...I immediately "dropped out" and returned back "home" not only to be supportive of my mother, but to get prenatal care as I was 7 months pregnant with my son Ryan. Thankfully my grandmother and I were super close and she said "Marie, you are married to a bum and for the sake of your children you need a career that you can be secure in anywhere you go, and quickly! I am talking about nursing "(she was an R.N. and one of the first visiting nurses in Utica,NY), I saw the wisdom in what she said and thank YOU Jesus!!!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
If it is human a&p or microbiology, the most common "job" I will do is test preparation, and quizzing the student to be sure the material needed is within the students' scope of understanding/learned information...If it is a nursing student, it is getting him or her ready to take the boards...but there are many other scenarios...
