City Pro Landscaping is an expanding business that gives you BEAUTIFUL RESULTS! Julie and Andy came to my home and walked my yard, which needed alot of help. They discussed what I wanted and gave me suggestions on what type of shrubs and plants to acheive the design I wanted. They talked with me and offered suggestions, and spent an hour with me in February. Julie stayed in touch with me until the weather was right for planting. The end of April came and their crew started working. I was amazed at how organizedthey were. They put in boxwoods and roses in front of my house. They added so much color with both annuals and perennials!! They then started on my courtyard, that has a pond and 3 areas for flowers. They made each bed special with the plants that I love! They worked on the pond, they cleaned, and placed new plants in along with my fish. Everdyday they worked, even when it was raining, Julie and Andy always stayed in contact with me. Both Julie and Andy, along with their crew were hard and fast workers! I am so pleased with everything they did for me, I feel like they are part of my family. If anyone needs a landscaping company that cares, then you need to talk with Julie and Andy. It is gratifying to know that there are businesses that care for their clients and work hard to make them happy. I will be using them in the future to make my garden beautiful next year! June P.

Our front yard never looked better! My yard was complete chaos after underground pipes had to be replaced. The garden stone placement is flawless! He was flexible about creating a design that met our budget, which I really appreciated. Great to work with & highly recommend!

Josh, Chrystal and Dottie showed up and spent the whole day getting my garden spot just right. They were very responsive to my vision and obviously took great pride in their work. The curb appeal of my house has been greatly improved by their mastery. We have even scheduled to expand the project in the future.

We just started using Chad for our landscaping services and so far we have been very pleased. We closed on a house recently and it appeared that the yard had been neglected for a month or more. Chad transformed the landscaping from an abandoned yard with two foot weeds to a neatly trimmed garden. He also pressure cleaned our driveway, sidewalk and patio area. So far, so good! We are counting on Chad to keep our outdoor areas looking good throughout the seasons.

Mike has a passion to bring food from the garden to the table. I have a raised bed that Mike helped get in order. Also needed some leaves and overgrowth removed from our other gardens. He did a GREAT job. Thanks Mike!

Betsy Wehby brings to her projects, the expertise of being a Master Gardener. She begins plantings with the knowledge to incorporate the correct conditions, including location, sun and soil condition. She can do it all, from planting stunning pots to flank your front door, to complete planting of your yard's landscape. Betsy designed the beds for both our house in Michigan and our current one in Cincinnati. When we sold the Michigan home, people noted with admiration, the beautiful appeal of the landscaping. Our current home was designed with beds completely surrounding the entire house. The process was implemented over several seasons. The design is both unusual and beautiful. Betsy's designs incorporate so much more than the standard boxwoods and arborvitae. Designed with an eye to yearround interest, there is always something going on. We are constantly complimented on the beauty of our home's surroundings.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
