Vinnie and the other mover (not good with names anymore) are angels! I don't know what I would have done without them. I wish we had a service like this in Athens, Ohio.

Hired Shawn to fix 3-in-1 tv stand and mount 55' tv to that stand. He is a true professional and has excellent skills. He is an expert on home theater systems and smart tvs. He really helped me to find that my tv is defective without even turning on and advised me to exchange asap. And he waited for me for another 2 hours at no extra charge, until I returned the defective piece and got a new one. Its a quality service. I really like his technical expertise. Overall, excellent service!!

Anthony did a great job. He installed cabling for an over-the-air TV antenna, cable TV, internet and telephone in a new home that had been framed but not drywalled. Very satisfied.

Chris did a great job installing a large tv the night before we were due to have guests over for the holiday. He gave me a very fair price to both move the cable line and install a new electrical outlet and the bracket so that all cords would be hidden from view. I could not be happier with the service that I received. Thanks again, Cris. - Craig H.

He came in, verified where the stud was, placed the mount on the wall and with my help holding the TV, mounted the TV to the wall. He was great, fast, and a really cool guy.

This young man has the experience and knowledge of someone that has been doing these types of work for 40+ years. I first used Devon/Clean Cut Installs to prep my former house to be sold. He changed the gold hardware throughout the house, installed new fans and sump pump, amongst other things. After buying my new house (which was built on 1998) I remodeled the entire kitchen, master and two additional bathrooms. Devon reshaped my kitchen to organize my new appliances (which he installed) installed all the cabinets, hardware throughout the house, faucets, showers, tubs (a stand alone in the master bath), toilets, nest thermostat, fans, chandelier and new led light fixtures inside and outside the house. He also wall mounted 4 TVs (60-80"), installed 2 new smart garage door motors, and installed the wall to ceiling cabinetry of my walking closet (love it!). He is very detailed, dependable, hard working and takes a lot of pride on his work. Needles to say, Devon is very personable and a pleasure to deal and work with. I highly recommend him!

Donny is my guy for anything AV. He executed many projects for me, the most recent being hanging a 65” TV over fire place mantle. This was beyond my abilities as he fished the wall and ran hdmi & cat 6 cables to the TV as well. The best is how he left the job, clean, organized and made sure I knew how to use the new system! I recommend Donny for any AV job! Rob

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    Who wall mounts TVs?

Electricians, handymen and TV installation specialists may all provide television mounting services. The person who does the mounting should be qualified and knowledgeable about basic construction concepts as well as working with audiovisual cables. In general, no specialized certificates are required to provide television mounting services, but as always do your diligence and make smart hiring decisions.

It’s important to find an experienced professional who will ensure the TV wall mount meets building code. Most regions have fire codes that don’t permit high-voltage power cords behind walls (low-voltage wires like HDMI and video cables are generally acceptable). A basic wall mount on drywall may take approximately one to two hours, while more complex mounts on brick or stone with hidden cables can take three or more hours. If you need more electrical outlets installed near your entertainment system, you may want to hire an electrician. Check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to mount a TV?

Elevate your home style with television mounting services. The national average price for television mounting services ranges between $100 and $130. Factors that can affect cost are the material of the wall you want the TV mounted on, whether you want the wires hidden, and any additional entertainment system connection you desire. It probably costs more to mount a TV on brick, stone or concrete than on drywall or plaster due to the added labor required to drill holes. For example, a company may charge an additional $99 to mount a TV on a brick wall. Here are some examples of average costs for television mounting services:

    • Basic TV wall mount: $40. Does not include bracket, device connection or strip management.
    • TV wall mount: $119. Includes bracket, mounting services, strip management system (for concealing external wires), and connection of all entertainment devices.
    • TV wall mount with wires hidden inside wall: $139.
    • Installation of additional electrical outlet: $65.
    • TV wall mount over fireplace with wires hidden: $179-$249.
    • TV wall mount and up to 5 speakers wall-mounted with hidden wires: $399.

Can a TV be mounted above a fireplace?

You may be able to mount your flat screen TV above your fireplace for a more streamlined look in your living room. In fact, TV mounting professionals can hang your flat screen TV flush with a wall or from a tilting or full-motion bracket mount in any room in your home. A tilting or full-motion mount may be the best option above a fireplace so you can tilt the TV down for the best viewing angle. Whether the wall above your fireplace is brick, drywall, concrete, stone or plaster, most television mounting services can accommodate your needs. Hardier wall surfaces like concrete or brick will require more labor and expertise to mount, and will likely have a higher price range.

If you want your AV and cable wires hidden in the wall, you will also pay a higher price due to the added time and skill to properly drill the holes and run wires. Before mounting your TV above your fireplace, consult with the manufacturer about necessary distance from heat sources. If the space above your fireplace gets too warm, another location could be better for the longevity of your TV. Your television mounting services may take between one and two hours, or more depending on your home theater setup.
