Introduction: Independent Musician Instruction (iMi): Private Guitar & Piano Lessons by Gerritt Reeves offers acoustic guitar and piano lessons to all ages. The curriculum is uniquely tailored to each individual's interests, talents, and goals. Gerritt Reeves has been writing, performing, recording, and teaching music since before he was old enough to drive. He has written over 250 original songs/scores, covering the genres of Country (for publishers in Nashville), Musicals, Sound Art, Children's Songs, and Low-Fi Indie Acoustic. Gerritt engineered, mixed, and published two full-length solo albums on which he performed all tracks himself using a total of 21 instruments. My original instrument is the acoustic guitar, on which I taught myself to play and write songs by ear with the aid of some of the first internet guitar tab sites. In college, I studied Secondary Piano Performance at the College Conservatory of Music (CCM) at the University of Cincinnati under Michelle Conda. In addition, I studied Audio Engineering at SAE (School of Audio Engineering) in New York City from 2011-2012. I have been giving private lessons on the acoustic guitar for nearly 20 years and on the piano for a decade, including six summers at Hidden Hollow Camp. I have provided lessons to roughly 30 students, both adults and children, in piano, guitar, songwriting, the art of recording, and music theory. A number of my students have gone on to become amazing musicians.
