My field commander in marching band at my high school and at Miami university. Stephen is an excellent musician and was very helpful in my learning to play the saxophone. He always went above and beyond the call of duty.

Chris did a great job giving lessons to my son over the summer. Chris was very flexible with his scheduling, and was always prepared for the lesson. He always had something prepared to help improve my son's skills, and he went the extra mile by introducing him to jazz players and even bringing along CDs containing music performed by some of the best jazz sax players ever. This was a great way to get and keep my son's attention during the lessons.

I was playing sax for 25-30 years, self taught and had maybe a couple months of formal lessons in total. I was in my mid 40's and a friend introduced me to B.J Jansen I started bari sax lessons with him and loved it. I was finally learning the right way. When your doing somethng wrong for 25-30 years, it's hard to correct and break old habits.. B.J. had a tremendous amount of patience with this older student, who was married, three kids and working 60 hours weeks, crazy hours. He was flexible and understanding. Hearing B.J. play inspired me to finally start those lessons. Some players can play but are not as adept at teaching someone else what they know. That is certainly NOT the case with B.J. I know I improved musically and thank him for that!

I've been taking voice lessons with Allison for 4 months. Allison is knowledgable and professional. The lessons are enjoyable and I'm seeing improvement in my singing. I appreciate her willingness to let me choose some of the songs I'm learning and the flexibility to work around my schedule. I'm an older adult who has wanted to take voice lessons for a long time. I'm glad I finally started and that I found the Sharp School of Music.

My Teaching Philosophy " I am passionate about the nuances of playing jazz on the saxophone. I seek out students who have musical purpose...who know why they want to play the insturment. I aide them in developing high quality sound, including defined intonation while fostering individual stylistic technique" "Bruce Menefield is more than an extraordinary saxophonist - he's an ambassador for the enrichment of music education for our youth. His non-profit organization provided programs demonstrating the expression and creativity of jazz music for young children." Aubrey Johnson, JAZZ HALF
