Although I have zero professional dog training experience, I do have a human/animal psychology degree, so I know which schools of thought work best and which are pseudoscience and Lisa uses the best current method available called operant conditioning, or positive reinforcement. It sounds simple, but without professional help it can be hard to figure out what exercises to use when you want to remove unwanted behaviors instead of just training your dog to do tricks. It can also be difficult to phase out treat use once a behavior is mastered (since no one wants to need perpetual treats to achieve good behavior). Lisa makes all that guesswork easy by giving you training exercise "homework" each week customized to your dog's behavioral needs, which will lead to newly shaped desirable behaviors to replace undesirable ones. You can tell she is really passionate about what she does. She doesn't judge or try to correct what you find acceptable behavior in your own dog as some trainers will (i.e. allowing dogs on furniture) but she instead listens to YOUR behavioral goals for your dog and helps get you there. Last but not least, her price is the best I've seen for her amazing skill level. To compare, I sent my dog to a training center for just a week, and it was $750 for him to come back with sit, stay, lay down, and heel which are great commands, but at that price Lisa could have come to my house 13 times. Plus, they used a prong collar on unwanted behaviors that we're still using as management only (even in the house which I fear will cause injury) which is why we called Lisa. We're already on a path to no leash indoors with a 6 month old goldendoodle.
I can not recommend Terry Cook enough it's like I have a brand new dog! To have training where my dog is no longer reactive on a leash but can be off leash as well makes his training one of the best. Thank you Terry!
I've worked with Julie as a dog trainer in both group classes and private sessions. I find her to be very knowledgeable with an infectious enthusiasm and an ability to explain things in a way that is easy to understand. Also available for phone consults. Very professional and always responds in a timely fashion. I highly recommend her to anyone I speak to.
Katie was one of the trainers who trained my service dog as a puppy. Without Katie's hard work, Leni would not be the partner for me that she is. Leni is not a quiet, obedient dog. She has a mind of her own and can be a bit too smart for her own good. Katie set the foundation for Leni's training when she was a puppy so that she could be the dog she is for me today. I now rely on Leni as my medical alert dog to keep me safe, and it is the obedience training foundation and task training that she received that make her able to do her job and do it well. Having Leni has changed my life, and the training Katie did with her has been a huge reason that Leni has become the service dog that she is. Katie is incredibly talented as a trainer and knows how to connect with each dog to get the best out of them. Choosing Katie to train your dog will not disappoint!
Amy is a patient, kind, and knowledgeable trainer...My dog and I have attended two different classes and benefitted greatly from each one. Her training is to the point and she makes it fun for both the dog and owner. I highly recommend her!
Not only is Megan incredibly afforable, but she is very patient, laidback, and serious about dogs! She has worked wonderfully with my schedule and has never scold me for having to reschedule training (I am a student). She is very patient with my corgi, Gravity, and only uses positive reinforcement. Gravity loves her! Because she is younger than a lot of dog trainers out there, I felt a lot more comfortable with her. No intimidation whatsoever. As a plus, Megan has been completely open about me texting her questions about training, problems.etc and gets back with thorough replies quickly everytime! She even writes clear, easy to read 'homework' for me after each session, so I can successfully continue Gravitys training. She is definitely be my 'go-to' dog trainer from now on!
Amy is a great resource. She is an experienced dog trainer and we learned so much from her gentle but firm training methods. Our growing puppy is doing well because of the structure Amy helped us put in place. She is reliable, responsible and trustworthy. I am looking forward to working with her for animal watching (have chickens, too) in the future. And maybe another puppy! Thank you and have a great day!
I enrolled my 7 month old American bully pup Jax into Rogers 2 week board in train program. Roger kept us updated daily with status messages and pictures which made the 2 weeks without Jax easier. We missed him like crazy. When we picked up Jax roger went over the e collar and commands with me and my children so we all felt comfortable using it. We were so amazed with what roger had taught Jax. Not only did he teach the commands that were included with the 2 week board in train we paid for but he went above and beyond and taught Jax several advanced commands too! If you are thinking about obedience training for your dog roger is the man to use.
The trainer that I talked was very helpful and listened to my needs in training my puppy and even offered additional training in the futurer
We are still a work in progress but after just one visit we can see a major change in Bixby. Tim is a master at not only training our dog but also training us. I look forward to achieving our goals with Bixby.
Ami is an excellent trainer! We started working with her when our puppy was 3 months old. After we filled out Ami's questionnaire, she came up with a training plan. She immediately stressed the importance of socialization at this age and got our puppy started with basic commands (I didn't even realize you could teach commands to puppies that young!). But most importantly, Ami got us off to a great start and she set us up for success. She is outgoing and personable and can teach both dog and owner. Training sessions were always fun. I know she will always be a great resource for us. And I know we'll reap the benefits of a well behaved, happy dog for many years to come! Our puppy loves Ami and so do we! So glad we found her!
I don't get my pup back until next saturday. She is a very young dog. Paige and Jordon aren't rushing her and if u look at the video. The 1st 6 days were unremarkable.
Kathleen did an awesome job training Marley! He goes in his kennel on command, walks so much better on the leash and stays in place when told to do so! The overall function of our house has massively improved thanks to Family Dog K9 Training!!
The owner Brian is very good with our dog. He treated him like he was his. He was very professional and patient with him. He was very very good.
Tim was very helpful in helping us to control our new puppies and gave ideas to try on the older dog we have. He was very good with animals...and wish he could visit our dogs more often.
A talented dog trainer who knows how to work with my dogs and with me! Often my dogs are responding to something I'm doing (wrong) and I don't realize it. Lauren is able to see how my actions and emotions play into my dog's behavior. Her experience with rescue groups also provides background knowledge on animals and how they interact with other dogs and with people that just can't be taught. She's put in years of time with dogs and people and you can tell. I highly recommend her as a trainer!!
I was referred to Sky Dogs when I adopted a deaf dog from Spreak! for the Unspoken. Allison Holloway teaches a special needs class for deaf, blind, and deaf-blind dogs and puppies. Once we got the basics down, we found the training staff was open to us joining in other classes. Nosework, treibball, flyball, agility, and many other courses are open to all dogs. If you need help improving your dog's social skills, there are behavioral classes as well. The cost is very reasonable. The center is located at Central Point in Columbus and there is plenty of well lit parking. Besides the affordable prices and friendly atmosphere, Sky Dogs fosters a sense of community among participants and provides opportunities for people (and their dogs) to volunteer to help out in rescue efforts.
Alicia was wonderful with my chihuahua! She gave me great advice to help with Lola's inappropriate urination. I'll definitely be recommending her to friends and family with dogs who have behavioral issues. Thank you so much, Alicia!

I have had many years of experience with animals. I have a unique way with bonding with and training dogs. I use commands and signals that are very easy to use and remember. I also use a reward system every time an animal does the command I asked. I will reward them with a treat. If they don't do the command I ask them to do, I repeat over and over again until they get it. Remember, things just don't happen overnight; it takes time and patience. I treat dogs a lot like children. My two dogs are a lot like my two-year-old daughter to me. If you are interested, you can contact me. Please tell your name and a brief message, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I do charge $10 an hour, and there is a contract we will have to go over and sign. I only work an animal 3 to 4 days a week for about 3 hours a day. The contract will also have information I need to know to know about the animal attached to it. Thanks a lot.
