FAQs
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure the Roofing Contractor exhibits competence, in other words they know what they are talking about! Most of the work I do is replacing recent repairs by incompetent roofers. Getting a faulty repair done is a waste of money and may cost you more money than if it were left to a real roofing contractor.Real slate and tile roofers are very rare and have specialized tools, make sure they have these tools.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Slate and tile roofing is a very specialized field that is only 4 percent of all roofing so we are rare. I have been on tens of thousands of roofs and it is very rare that I see a correct repair. Most of the real roofers are long gone to this world. Most of the work we do is re-doing recent faulty or substandard repairs. The cheapest way to do something is once correctly and you are looking at infinity when it comes to getting correct work done on a slate or tile roof. I took out 9 roof pans from one house and you would think that one of them would stop the leak. I was not called to that house for nothing and tried a novel approach, I removed all the roof pans and installed one that was water tight and correctly soldered together then warranted it for life. That was 20 years ago. Haven't heard back from that Customer.
