FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Physicians are required by the traditions of the profession, the standards of various professional organizations and specialty boards and the dictates of state regulatory agencies to obtain continuing medical education. I do this routinely through reading the published literature in Pain Medicine and Addiction Medicine, and the completion of doctoral studies has also necessitated rigorous continuing education.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Prior to retirement I wrote medical articles frequently, publishing about 300 papers and book chapters during my years at The Ohio State University. I found this to be one of the most pleasant parts of an academic medical career, and decided to continue it with an additional emphasis on energy medicine and holistic health after retiring from medical school teaching and clinical practice.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I am particularly pleased to have completed a Ph.D. dissertation in less than 2 years, dealing with herbal, homeopathic and other alternative or complementary methods of treating chronic pain and dealing with addiction to pain medicines.
