FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I continue to attend yoga classes and workshops to increase my knowledge of yoga. Attending classes with great teachers helps me learn better ways to verbally cue poses, and workshops can help me learn about different therapeutic techniques. Once I have been practicing yoga instruction for some time, I will go back to school to receive my RYT-500 certification.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have seen my aging family members suffer from injuries due in large part to misuse of their own bodies. They have spent their lives working in jobs or participating in sports that created negative use patterns in their bodies and were unable to recognize the damage they were doing until injury occurred, and they often needed surgery just to get back to a semblance of their former health. I was determined to find a way to listen to my own body and not follow the path of misuse that many people do. As I began my own home practice, friends around me wanted to join as learn more about yoga. I realized that awareness of one's own body should be available to everyone, so that we can all lead healthy, comfortable lives. I wanted to share that knowledge with others, and that is why I became a RYT-200.
