This was more than a mechanic, Above, and beyond. It was a journey. It's been a year since this, and we're still working well. 1986 John Deere Garden Tractor. He hauled it back and forth from Dayton to Florence...TWICE. My guy is coming down the street with my tractor loaded on the trailer, about 15ft before my driveway his truck dies 🥺(we'll figure that out later). He tells me to hop on the Deere and we'll get it off the trailer. Put the key in.....HORRIBLE grinding noise 🥴, so we push it off the trailer and park it in the driveway. We think a replaced part came loose during the tow down. Dad and mechanic, pick around on the truck, speculating a timing belt (UhOh), keep in mind, he's from Dayton, OH. So, we unhook the trailer and push it out of the way, into the yard. Meanwhile the now dead truck, is in the middle of the street and blocking my neighbors driveway. So, I put my Jeep in the yard so we can make room for the dead truck til we figure out what we're going to do with it. I said, I have AAA 💡so, with that, I called and made an appointment for a tow back to my mechanics (now cousins) house in Dayton, OH. ETA 830PM (3 hours) 😯so, now we wait.....meanwhile, my parents need to get home, so they leave 👋. 10 minutes later, they are back 🤔. Moms tire on her Jeep is leaking air fast 🫤. So, I get the pump, hook it up, it's down to 10 psi (not good) 😬. I get the tire inflated, and turn off the pump 👂ssssssssssssssssssss. UhOh, we're leaking from the valve stem, and fast. So, drag out the floor jack, and get her spare on (with Jacks help), they are rolling 🚙. During this, my mechanics wife calls, she's locked herself out of the house (in Dayton). He talked her through that (now back in the house). Meanwhile we wait. At 850PM got a call from AAA, our tow now has an ETA of 1030PM 😭. So my new found family/friends from Dayton, OH decided to grab a UBER back to Dayton. During all this mess, I learn my new cousin (mechanic) is a diabetic, and his insulin pump came unhooked. So, I knew he needed to get back home (had Skyline for supper). UBER gets them, so now I wait....1045PM, tow shows up, takes him about 30 minutes to get the dead truck loaded, and off they go, so now there's a dead Deere in my driveway, and a trailer in my yard🤷....Keep in mind all this was after a 16 hour night shift with getting 2 hours sleep afterward. Wake up this morning to a text from Dayton, OH. MY TRUCK AIN'T HERE 😬😳🤯. Half asleep, I call him, and he very apologetically said "Oh my, I'm so glad you called, I forgot to text you back, I found my truck about 1/2 mile down the street, we pushed it back to the house, all is fine, I'm working on it now." Momma said there'd be days like this (but I'm sure she didn't intend to be involved) So, in close, hope all my friend and family (even the new ones) have a great day! Thanks for reading a day in the life.......of me 🙄 🤣🤣 🤷 Now to finalize, this guy came back and got the tractor, we both discovered it was a flywheel issue. 1986, difficult to find new, but he let me purchase the part (used) , had it delivered to his address and fixed it. Guarntee on the work, not the part, which was fine with me. This guy is amazing. No one in this world would have done what he did. It was and experience for the both of us and I would call no one else ever for help if needed.
