I offer private in-home training, day training, and walking services.
I specialize in helping you and your dog acquire basic obedience skills through positive reinforcement that will help you to communicate and live in harmony with each other.
If you and your dog understand the basics of training and learning, you can teach your dog anything.
I also specialize (and really enjoy) teaching tricks and dog sports such as obedience, rally, and agility, so please reach out if you have an interest in learning more about dog sports or would like to start training in basic obedience, tricks or dog sports.
I've been training dogs for over 16 years and have many titles in dog agility, obedience, rally and tricks with my Beagles.
I am also a certified assistance dog trainer and trained service dogs for 5 years in Oregon before moving to Ohio in 2022.
My favorite thing is introducing dogs and their owners to positive training techniques and teaching them to build behaviors and tricks in a fun, positive way.
I am available for private lessons with owner and dog, or day training where I come in and train the dog while you are at work. Day training will still require transfer/private lessons so that you understand how to continue working with and reinforcing behavior, but it's a great option for those with less time or interest in training.
I also offer dog walking services.

Brittany is an incredibly talented trainer. She has patience, knowledge and skills that can train not only dogs, but also humans. When I first met Brittany, I couldn't believe the incredible training she had put on her beagles, then repeated that success with her next dog. It is an incredible opportunity to have her help whether training a puppy or just teaching an old dog new tricks. She can do it all!

If Brittany can't teach your dog to do something, you should probably let them NOT do it. I was fortunate to work with Brittany for 3 years training assistance dogs, and hiking with personal dogs, in Oregon. She started out training the dogs who didn't make it through the program to be Assistance dogs (a.k.a. more challenging and/ or difficult), and getting them adopted. She was so good at it that the other trainers encouraged her to move up to the dogs who DID make the grade, so she did, and was great! I thought I was pretty good before working there, but I learned so much from her!Her patience is the first thing you'll notice- she never takes out frustrations on the dog or blames them for "not getting it".Secondly, she's got a dozen ways to teach everything, looking for the method that works best for both your dog AND you, setting up solid foundations in basics first, then building off of that.Third- she is positive reinforcement all the way. You won't find any prong collars, shock collars, or archaic, outdated punishing methods here, because she doesn't need them.Anyone who can teach her Beagle to recall from a few hundred yards away, AFTER she spotted and chased a rabbit, is good enough for whatever fun thing you want your dogs to learn

Brittany has been our go-to trainer for our various Beagles since the early 2000s after we met her at an agility event. She knows and understands dogs and has a vast instinctive background and knowledge of how to relate this to dogs making it a positive experience all around. She can get our Beagle to qualify in agility while we wistfully watch from the sidelines. We can wholeheartedly recommend her as she has experience and professionalism and she is always looking to bring the best out of any dog.

I think she is very sweet and knowledgeable about dogs and how to train them. She was very responsive whenever I had a question which I liked. But I wasn’t really impressed by my dog’s training experience. Most of the sessions seemed to be her just talking. I wish she would’ve focused more on demonstrating how to actually train my dog vs just giving me tips. I’m someone who learns visually, so I would’ve liked a more hands on approach.

I apologize for not meeting your expectations.
Usually in the first couple sessions with a brand new puppy and first-time dog owner, potty training and other puppy antics/questions do take up a lot of time. I try to give new puppy owners as much reading material as I can ahead of time to minimize lectures because their is a lot to learn before starting on actual behavior training.
I appreciate the feedback and will keep it in mind when structuring future sessions.
